I looked at a taurus of the 20th century BC. I though he was looking at me too, he was Cypriot. He was here before the Greeks arrived on the island and way before the Turksι. He came from Deneia, burried close to a head of some high rank personality, devoted to the god for evolution and reproduction. The taurus today are replaced by Porche Cayane, BMW X5 . So pety that they are not burried close to the heads of their owners! This taurus seemed more objective, more dialectic, deeper than the tin of the cars. I begun to task to him. I explained to him my confusion. I told about the history books, about the Anan plan an the rejection of 75% Greek Cypriots and the support of 65% Turkish Cypriots. I told him about Tasos and his 5 years spent in rejection. I told him about the North and its rapid development, about the Turkish military, the settlers and the possible Turkification of the island due to the demographic change of the whole of Cyprus. I told him about Christofia and his efforts, about Anastasiades and his support and I discussed the possibility of a solution. Then we talked about Talat and Erdogan, the military and whether if these three powers are three in one flesh or three different and in conflict with each other.

The prehistoric taurus was looking at me carelessly, as if he found this topic dull. He was there before the Greeks and the Turks. He fought together with all the powers for his survival. The problems with the greeks and the rest started with Onisilos and Evagoras and closed after the battle of Salamis. The Turks appeared around 1570, kicked out the Venetians and made Cyprus part of Ottoman Empire until 1878 when they sold us to the british. All these centuries before Evagoras and between Evagoras and the Turks I changed boss very frequently. From 12th cetury AD we flerted with Greece and our Greekness that the foreign rulers did not let us have. After WW2 when it was clear that the British will not give us our freedom we fought to liberate our selves only to allow the fascist elements exclude our Turkish Cypriot compatriots and the left. We allowed the British to cultivate their dirty policy 'divide and rule' who fueled Turkish nationalism to lead us to partition which is discussed today in the year 2008. The taurus and other Greek Cypriots may of may not be ancestors of the Greeks, we have centuries of history before their appearance and intermingling with all those conquorers who settled on this land. Turkish Cypriots may or may not be ancestors of Turks, many or maybe most of them are Christian Greeks, Maronites and Latins forced to convert to islam. The current situation is the creation of human nature where we take sides in our need for survival and safety, need for belongingness, need for power. We go with group which we can make a living, the group that we feel safe, the group which we feel we belong and we want to dominate the others. We don't see humanity as a whole and that we are part of it.

If we teach the history of the taurus in the new books and the truth that he reveals, then its value is huge. Even more important than any talks. If it is to substitute the false history with a new false history then they are not worth the effort. I think all the energy of this country, of these people, Greeks, Turks, Maronites, Armenians, Latins and others must at this crucial moment focus on recording the true history of this land so as to erase the racial hateress and love this place for what it is.

...indeed, anything older than the Greeks, and the Turks is a reality which is far more important.

if we are to make a link with our past, learning it gives the living nature of our own societies a perspective and a place in all this history; where we can embrace the future as stewards of this tremendous wealth of our nature as Humans, it is as one for all thinking creatures who reason.
