The Turkish author and proffesor Taner Aktsam in his book 'A cowardice action - the Armenian genocide and the matter of Turkish responsibility".
«Μία επαίσχυντη πράξη - η γενοκτονία των Αρμενίων και το ζήτημα της τουρκικής ευθύνης»
The book was presented yesterday in Greece and according to Typos.com.cy (Greek e-newspaper) speakers at the event were: Taner Aktsam, former Greek minister Evangelos Venizelos, proffessor Marios Evriviades of Panteio University and others.
I was imprest by the words of the author who said " Nations are used to remembering their sacrifices but not their violent actionsς. However nations should remember their sacrifices as well as inhumane actions so as to learn from history and not to repeat the same mistakes. He noted that the policy of Turkey was to remove by all means the christian population and others who were not Turkish from the territories that were concored by them. There were many reasons why Turkey refuses to recognise the Armenian genocide, but I will only mention one, he said: nations need their heroes and the people who were involved in the genocide were considered heroes and it is hard for nations to forbitten their national heroes. What Turkey needs today is to become a democratic country which will open many roads.
Mr Venizellos reminded the words of Dionisios Solomos, that the national matter is the truth and he noted that the national memory is eclectic - it choses its sources, and the movement of nations towards the historical truth is the road of progress and democracy. With the attitude of Turkey on the Armenian genocide will partly affect its track towards the European civilisation and he said that Germany was not embarrased when they apologised for the holocaust. And he added that the international pressure might act as a catalyst and that it would help to the recognition of the historical truth and the improvement of the foreign relations. The recognition of the Armenian genocide is not a historic payback it is a matter of recognising the historical truth.
for those who speak Greek they can read more at http://www.typos.com.cy/nqcontent.cfm?a_id=1

| Ataturk fought in Gallipoli during the massacres and is not associated with the events. The proper title of the book, "A shameful act", actually refers to a statement made by Ataturk on the actions of the Young Turks against the Armenians. |

We all talk about the Armenian Genocide BUT no one talks about the Filios Polemos (Civil War in Greece and Cyprus)
How many Greeks killed innocents Greeks?
How many where sent to Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Poland and other countries because they where so called Communists!
How many Greek Cypriot killed there own brothers and blamed the Turks?
We all know that Turkey BUTCHERED millions of innocent people for their cause! One nation!
BUT what the HELL did the Greeks and the Cypriots do it for? The Glory? The money? Jealousy?
Their Nation? That is what I want to know?

Stavrizatz the Emifios Polemos was dirty war!
One of sad thing is that the clown Grivas who was in the Greek Army in 1946 asked a group of Greeks in the village of Karigista (Greece) who is Greece's Enemy?
One said Germany! He said NO!
One said Italy! He said NO!
One said Surly is Turkey! He said NO! And he started screaming! It is the Communists! The Communists!
So when you have radicals NUTS like Grivas what did you expect in Cyprus?
How did I know about this war?
My uncles wife is from Florina and was taken to Yugoslavia when she was 8 years old and never saw her mother (The Greeks killed her) but saw her father after 12 years in Australia:
ZHTO H ELLAS!
cheers
PS: Xenos mate let me tell you something if I was a on some kind of drugs I wouldn't know what the Emfilio Polemos WAS and I wouldn't be able to correct all the BULL you post!
Bye Bye! |

I guess you're out of a job Sparky, since I don't post much any longer.
It's okay though. I have always known that you were a legend in your own mind. When is Deep Purple coming to Dallas? If they are, let me know if you are joining them as their lead singer or just another roadie. |
