A new draft-law on the property issue is expected to be submitted today in the assembly
Turkish Cypriot daily VATAN newspaper (02.07.07) reports that a draft-law is expected to be submitted today in the assembly on the property issue. The draft-law provides for a big fine and three years imprisonment for the persons, who are selling to Greek Cypriots the property they abandoned in the government controlled area of the island in various forms, in spite of the fact that they had signed a document by which they renounced their rights over the above-mentioned property and they were given property by the breakaway regime in the occupied areas of Cyprus.

DP Says!
Boys what I gather is the following BUT correct me if I am wrong!
Any Turkish Cypriot who transferred his lost land in the Republic of Cyprus over to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was given as exchange land as a compensation!
BUT some Turkish Cypriot have also worked out that they can also sell this land as well in the South: Call it doubling your claim:
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus want to put a stop to this! WHY? Why do you think?
As to what I think?
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus want to put a stop to this because THEY want to sell the land when there is a solution!

BUT if Turkish Cypriot sell there land for big BUCK$ in the Republic of Cyprus the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will MI$$ out!
cheers

If a Turkish Cypriot was sentenced - and then took Turkey to the ECHR with regards to the case... what would happen?

I am no lawyer but if they willingly chose to sign over their rights to said property to a third party (like the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) then how can they claim legally or morally that they can then also sell said property?

Yes, one can not really sell ones property twice.... that is why the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus should register the first contract with the Republic of Cyprus land registry... In way, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus can perhaps sue the owner in Republic of Cyprus courts for selling the property twice... Of course, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is not a valid legal entity, but a property company could be registered (with the Republic of Cyprus company registration).

Not sure if the Turkish Cypriot owners can claim that Turkey forced them to sign it over... under duress.

It also makes me wonder how the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus knew they where the legal owners..., was it based on showing Republic of Cyprus title deeds? How did the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus know the property was not already sold before they signed it over to them...

I second that, and third and fourth and fifth and however many times it is required that people get through their thick craniums.

except the fools part: I guess in an overview that can be said, however I would prefer the word criminals. Of course Mr Denktash has the lead, but Mr Clerides is not so behind.. if the Anan plan had worked he would have clenched the trophy from Mr Denktash at the last minute.. alas.

...is it opportunism or realism?

1.) In the Courts of England it is said that the Republic of Cyprus is sovereign over the whole island.

2.) Their identity with their possessions would not be any different to anyone else on this planet, therefore why not sell your land.

3.)After over thirty years, as a State, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus has very little, as much credibility as it started with. Turkish Cypriots, may have a form of self-representation, yet they still remain subject to Turkey. In this state, they remain unfree, worse, they are demeaned by a demographic where they are marginalised, and a toponomy which assimilates them, dependant on the subsidy of this one State whose occupation of their land seems without end.

Why not sell the land which remains yours? There is little chance that a "clear title" to the land given to you will be recognised by anyone else but the entity, and its Army, underwhich you must live.

Certainly, this reaction by the legislating body, is an admission that the land overwhich they have made a claim, founded on an illegal act, remains an occupation, that there is a compensation to be paid, and that a reciprocal act could occur, Greek Cypriots may choose to sell their land to Turkish Cypriots, if unoccupied, ignoring this Assembly's authority over its Titleship.

It is all a cat and mouse game!

Turkey is hoping that everyone Will forget Cyprus and the invasion and let them into the EU! Good Luck!

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is hoping that everyone will recognize it as a country and just forget about the stolen Greek Cypriot land! Good Luck again!

Republic of Cyprus is hoping that it can be the ruler of the whole island without giving the Turkish Cypriot any authority or powers or equalities: Good Luck again!

Great Britain hope that nothing will ever happen with a solution to Cyprus because all the corrupt Poms who bought land for peanuts and also the Bases will have to face reality!
