Until a few months ago I would have said Mac, without a doubt; the operating system is superior although, on using Windows Vista RC2, the worm of doubt is eating away at that judgement
But the staff at the Regent Street store threw it all away. The motherboard of my Powerbook failed, after almost three years, and their superciliousness and snootiness when I took it in to be repaired was unbelievable!
So I didn't bother having it repaired - particularly as the repair would have cost over half that of a new machine and the hard disk was also in a bad way - built a very splendid small form factor PC and have never looked back.
(I have seen repeated assertions that the quality of Apple hardware is not as good as it is. I am inclined to believe these ...). |

On "frustration" I should have mentioned that, in my opinion, the Powerbook design was flawed. Being all-aluminium it occasionally got extremely hot, and that appeared to slightly warp the case over (a long) time.
Until you have spent half an hour trying to get a stuck CD out of a drive, yet are unable to poke a straightened-out paperclip in a hole to do so because the drive is motorised (the Mac eject button is implemented in software only) you have not experienced frustration!
I ended up getting an external drive ...
Laptops by Dell and the like may be ugly, but their mechanics "just work". |

| As I always say. MACs are always better than PCs. It is my job and I dont have much problem with MACs but PCs are always a pain in my ass. |
