In my Cyprus:
1. There are three governments for our representation.
...we are bi-communal
i) There is the Republic of Cyprus, where we are united as people, and it serves us equally. It is the defender of our Individual Rights and it is our representation as a State.
ii) There are two National identities, each which represent their citizens in a manner where the majority can act to sustains itself, and where it can be of service to minorities as well, by providing for their needs.
... we are bi-zonal
2. The island is pocketed with enclaves so that Grecophones can be given the choice to return to their homes as communities, so too the Turcophones who will wish to reestablish communities in the South, with the opportunity to provide homes to the Settlers (from Turkey).
3. The "Green Line" is a line that is painted on a small side street somewhere to remind us from what we came from, and there is a day when we gather there to celebrate, where we remember the fallen, whose lives were sacrificed to our ignorance, and from whom we gained our freedom. There is free movement, free association, and there is free expression. We are a people of refined culture with many parts and we thrive on this distinction.
4. Cyprus is an island which belongs to the people who inhabit it and it is free from the subjugation of interlocutors, its people are the stewards of a Patrimony that is important to all Mankind. |

it was a nice piece , and a nice dream , but i think the continued propaganda and racism being spoonfed to the people makes the dream harder and harder to realise , If you watch closely the news , internet forum's , statements by the Power monger's , you see that none want to relinquish their power , |

What is curious, 100%, is that so many have agreed with this way of thinking.. most have the same reaction as you, however; if it is appealing, then we must take the opportunity to form or to find the political representation which will effect a platform, like this one, from which this party will stand to be elected.
Some interesting movement has happened in the recent past in both communities. There is talk of a party that will run two slates, in the seperate elections on a single list of issues, for a United Cyprus. I am hoping for a knight in shining armour, and ironically, it is entirely possible, because the population of Cyprus is comparitively small.
A journalist and an engineer would be good candidates for this leadership role, if behind the scenes a machine existed made up of many people, who choose to communicate their support through membership, and who actively express this representation to others.
There is this culture of refined people here, it takes the right moment, a wily person having found them, to turn the warm brewing milk to cheese, or yogurt, creamy, something pure, with a distinctive zest, good for you... something everyone agrees with because it stands for a way of life that is inclusive, multilingual, having National and International representation. Sophisticated, with a high level of education and healthcare. Refined, because its Judiciary is esteemed as unrivaled, for its integrity, as well as its Judgements. We are there, or almost there, statistically, I figure; at least the odds of it happening are soon, because age will overtake the living players.
Anywhere I have traveled, around half the world, meeting children who knew they would be dead by seventeen, and those people who have an influence on our daily lives; one thing is for sure: we all seek to be happy, and we find this happiness from the same simple pool of choices.
We as people have no other duty but to the betterment of our condition. Without the limitations of this adversarial strife, Cyprus is an island. It is a domain where we can call its people Cypriots. Like any country, it must stand to be a part of Mankind, and for these Human Rights, for all people equality.
Even children understand these things, truths that are Universal, like in science, Laws; the same for our own behaviour, as well as the means of our social exchange. These are the choices which Cypriots must make for themselves, without limitation. This choice is not offered to the Cypriot people. We are isolated from each other at the moment, and although, the inertia which keeps us divided as people seems ultimate, it is not frictionless. Without the interlocutors needs, the people of the island would live without subjugation. Sovereign over the land, representing themselves, something in a manner which I have (often) described, being bi-zonal, bi-cameral, and bi-communal.
I dare say that as a template, it is a solution for similar issues regionally, and for the Middle East in particular. |

In my Cyprus...
Its first President: Turkish Cypriot.
The leader of a party holding a majority of seats in an Upper House, won by an election of ideas, from two votes from each citizen; made up of an equal number of seats for its Turkish and Greek representatives from each electoral district. It's entirely possible in my hypothesis...(also) having a Lower House respecting demographics, (which I believe may shift drastically in the future), without affecting the sustainance of the founding cultures. |
