Right... now that people have had an opportunity to simmer down, I am unlocking this thread. However, if we continue to witness the level of abuse that has taken place in this thread, it will be locked in perpetuity. Discuss the issues by all means, even discuss them in pointed terms, but don't go all Rambo again, grown adults saying they're going to kill each other isn't big, isn't clever, and more to the point isn't welcome here.

cannedmoose, the "they're going to kill each other" isn't exactly true, the threat was one sided and two people tried to play the "Rambo" role, Kiefeas and De_La_Soul. I did not threaten anyone in any way, shape or form. Just wanted to put the record straight. I would also like to know what you as Admin are going to do about the threats that are being repeated in other threads of this forum? |

Regardless of whom the threats were coming from, all those involved in this ridiculous episode carry some of the blame for its degeneration. I do note that you did not make threats. I am not 'admin', but an appointed moderator and have to consult with the other moderators to reach a decision on what to do with those who break the rules of this forum. You will learn shortly what measures may be taken. Threats of violence are unacceptable in any direction and are taken seriously. |

CM is right: Just KISS AND mate up OR should I say Grow up: You guys sound like the EOKA B and the TMT which brought this unfortunate disaster upon Cyprus and it looks like you have learned from your parents mistakes:
It is 2006 boys so just Cool IT and talk some sense:
Ho9w can I open the Hooters Bar in Arkotisa if you guys are going to argue over the past: You wont buy and girls there drinks:
So just leave sex and violence for the TV and out of the forum and talk as Cypriots trying to solve the main problems because to tell you the truth we are all to blame not only the Greek Cypriot, Turkish Cypriot but Turkey Greece and Britain so just lets get down to business and forget the negative feelings:

| Come on, guys! Don't waste our time with personal attacks and childish name callings. What happenned to the initial premise of this forum? Where are the moderators? Moderators should be more involved in putting the discussions back on the track. Otherwise this forum will end up like any other...lots of content with little or no information. |

Given that we can't be here 24hrs a day, it is also up to the members to self-moderate Mete. The episode in this thread happened during the early hours of the morning when none of the mods were present. I made a number of attempts early in this thread to steer it back on track, I add with no support from any other members.
You are right about the initial premise of this forum. It's just a shame that some members are incapable of remembering them. |

That's true Boomer... but my point stands in that a small number of individuals were allowed by other members to hijack a perfectly good thread... 1960s all over again. |

The best way to stop it is to ignore it and continue discussing the topic of the thread. If enough people continue to do so, the argument soon tails off.
Since we mods are simply volunteers, we can't be expected to be around all the time. Much of the time, it's for the members of this forum to self-regulate, just as we do in the real world. There isn't a policeman on every corner telling us not to drop litter in the streets or take a dump in the nearest drain, we don't do that because we have respect for others. This place is no different. |

Moose, I agree that the Mods can't be there all the time to police the Forum but there was a Mod when the first insults and threats (by Kiefeas)were made against me (see page page 10, Mon 13 Feb 12.55am and 1am of Mods reply to Kiefeas). It could and should have been stopped there and then before the second poster (Delasol) had the chance to threaten me.
Maybe just as well that it wasn't stopped because it gave the other posters the chance to see what these two are like and what extremes they would go to to force their will on to others. I am certain that some of the other posters support what Kiefeas and Delasol did/do but at least they were/are civilised enough to not go public.
Anyway, I am still waiting to hear what the Admin/Mods action the Admin/Mods are going to take about the threats made against me. I got a PM yesterday that an announcement would be made on the forum by the end of the day (yesterday) but as yet I have not seen any. |

Just for the record Eric, I fundamentally disagree with your perspective, but I recognise your right to hold the views that you do, even if they do result in a violation of my relative's human rights (a number of my relatives are refugees from Angastina and Lapithos). So, while I disagree with your stance, I understand that this is a product of your history and is probably not something that I can change.
However, I also realise that the way forward is not simply to hate you for what you are saying and to spit in your face, but to put forward to you the opposite position, in the hope that you can begin to appreciate that there are two sides to this tragic story. The man who strikes first admits that his ideas have given out. |
