Hi

I have repositioned the webcam (and turned it back on).

It now looks South towards the mountains (ssw). St Hilarion is exactly behind the tree Sad

Its not ideal. Ultimately I think I will need to get an external waterproof housing for the camera and mount it outside, whihc will involve getting ethernet / power cables running outside too. Still this will have to do for now.

It can be viewed from here

Wow, what a view - mountains! tree! fields! (well, I can manage the second at a stretch ...)

My only slight reservation is that the scene looks rather static ... are missiles launched from the mountaintops occasionally, just to liven things up? Razz

Even if there was any 'action' to watch from my house, my rather meager upstream bandwith would not be up to the job of delivering it Sad

We don't all have 24meg connections in our homes you know Smile (yeah I know thats downstream - but still)

What browser are you using?

You (your browser) have to supply correct username and password details (username = guest password = talkcyprus). Did you enter these (in ie or firefox a pop up window should appear asking for these deatils)

It may be that it is a load issue, but I think that gives a different message. I have it limited to 5 concurrent streams I think.

I'm using FF 1.0.7:

Quote:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20051213 Firefox/1.0.7

I don't get a login window, just an "access denied" message.

Thats weird. It produces a pop up 'username and password' window here in either firefox or IE (running under windows XP)
Do you have an alternate browsers you can try. If that does not work I can give you the details of the webcam direct (not embedded in forum portal page) and we can see if that works.

I get the same result with IE in Windows 2003. I think it has something to do with the proxy server of Netway, since it's that server that returns the "access denied" error.

I hate forced proxy servers - espically badly configured ones Sad

What happens if you goto this site directly

No, it doesn't. Sad

But Netway's proxy server isn't badly configured - I haven't had much trouble with it. Especially with access controlled web servers, I use them all the time and I've never had problems.

Well in my book a 'transparent' proxy server that you have no choice but to use, that actualy stops a website from working, that would work fine if the proxy was not in between the user and the target site, is by definition not configured properly. Without proxy - works. With proxy - does not work. Conculsion - ths proxy is rubbish.

Anyway just for you I have allowed viewing without any need for any password or username. Because you are 'proxy challenged' Smile

Are you still getting the same error message ?

If so then it is probably because the proxy server (that is so well configured) is deciding that there is not point in actually retireving the page from the source site and that it 'knows' what that page should be - an error message Smile

Oh well I give up. If I used an ISP with a proxy server like this one appears to be I would change ISP. I really mean that.

Errr....... Re, I never had such problems with that proxy server. Never. And I'm using HTTP auth a lot, including with my own servers which are located in America.

BTW, all Cyprus ADSL ISPs force proxy servers on you, therefore changing my ISP is not an option.

And I have never had any problems with these lancams and have been using them for many years now (we replaced all the analog /vhs based security cameras in my brothers restuarants with these several years ago). I have viewed them fine from many different ISPs, those using proxies and those not suing proxies and many devices, including PDA's (win CE based). The cams run linux and use totaly indistry styandard protocals for web serving and security.

Arrrgggg. How horrible !

I can _just_ about stand an enforced proxy server, if it is truely 'transparent' - but one thats stops me from doing what I want to do, is just not acceptable to me. It's rare that I am greatful for my 2 way sat system (that is proxied to the hilt btw -as all such 2 way sat systems are) - but this is one case where I am greatful that their proxies are not operating (blocking me from doing what I want to do) as yours apprently are.
