cypriot dialects ?

well in the Greek Cypriots dialect we can tell the difference between some regions.
ofcource the dialect is lost for a number of reasons, sth that really pisses me off to be honest ...lets not get into that.
especially those who come from paphos , and kotjinohorka - the region around paralimni, ayia napa etc. are the most distinct ones. one sentence is more than enough to understand their region.

ofcource in the cities like nicosia and limassol with so many people from all parts of cyprus, its kind of more difficult to tell. some words or phraces are characteristic but not more than that.
from such phrases i could also understand if someone originates from the morphou region.

do you have the same thing in the Turkish Cypriot dialect? can you tell from the way one speaks where one comes from?

Well in greek theres regional differences in accent and vocabulary. In fact one of the Kochinohoria has its own accent but i forget which one! Cooking varies but i think that would be another thread. I was 19 before i saw tomato in moudjentra!!!
kochinohoria say ehi rather than eshi
being of varoshiotes parents i know chanta and tsanta is a Varosha/Limassol difference and i forget which is one!
souped up=enishimeni (Limassol)=motifarismeni in Nicosia, which shouldnt shock anyone if they realise that they put pickle in souvlakia. You also dont get a piece of lemon inside thje pitta in limassol, which was a big surprise first pitta i bit into in Larnaca! Also Ammohostos district flaounes are sweet whereas Limassol district theyre salty-ish

It's the same story in the Turkish Cypriot society. You can easily tell if someone is originally from Pafos. They don't have a distinct dialect per say but they use expressions in a certain way that makes it obvious that they're from Pafos.

You can also tell if people are from Erenkoy (Kokkina) region but that's more from their physical appearance than their dialect.

Really? Wow very interesting...I don't get why people make fun of people from Pafos? Well tease...is it because of the way they speak?
