Well from all i have been reading since the Republic of Cyprus joined the EU is how to take the cyprus problem away from the UN and make it an EU problem as it would work heavily to their advantage as they are members of the club hence a very biased solution, so this is the goodwill that tassos talks about, 'the solution is my way or no way' and the response fron Turkish Cypriot will be 'stick it up your a**e and choke you terrorist murderer turned leader'.
Watch out for the SG statements soon, i bet the Republic of Cyprus will not like it as they think the international community is stupid and they are the smart and can play these games.

Brother,
I am more than certain that you are conquered by a great deal of misconceptions regarding what the Greek Cypriot side is trying to secure and achieve. I am not surprised for the existence of these misconceptions, nor about your anger and frustration. I know you are influenced by what is being written lately in the Turkish media, which I also follow –at least the English language ones. I suggest you ignore them as they are very simplistic and superficial to the minimum and stupid at most.

The Greek Cypriot side doesn’t want to shift the solution of the Cyprus problem away from the umbrella and auspices of the UN. Neither it tries to get the EU to take over the role of the intermediary away from the hands of the UN SG and the UN Security Council and assume it by them-selves. What the Greek Cypriot side is trying to secure is that any new initiative and mediation by the UN, which inevitably will have the Annan plan as a reference basis, will also take into a more serious consideration the relevant UN SC resolutions about Cyprus and certain aspects of the EU aqui (principles and values on which the EU is established,) which were to a small or a large extent ignored in the previous A-plan versions.

The Greek Cypriot side is still talking about a solution on the basis of the formation of a BB federation. This basis has not been changed. You must be aware that Belgium for example, is a EU member country but at the same time it also has a form of a functional BB federation which is more refined and normalised with the EU principles and values.

Of course, if you are one of the Turkish Cypriots who wish for a solution on the basis of apartheid arrangements, away from any sense of justice and on the basis of a fake re-unification, like the A-plan was to a large extent, and this was also confirmed by Erdogan himself two days ago when he spoke about a confederation on the basis of two states and two people, then you are perfectly right to be angry and frustrated. In such a case, we differ substantially on the whole concept of a solution and re-unification.

this has now become the most baffling intriging political battles i think i can ever remember.

who will win this game? Cyprus or Turkey.

And then what will the winners have won?

International diplomacy at its highest level, and its winner takes all.

Erdogan and Papadopolous both riding the biggest political wave of their careers. Both have now lost control of where this is going. They have both got the same tigger by different tails, both being spun and neither can let go.

Sooner or later the tigger will eat one.

Well tassos raises the stakes again by...wait for it...wanting the 'reference to a solution via UN' taken out, so what i initially said stands as the 'real mask of the Republic of Cyprus slips off' and reveals their true aims and ambitions.
