Time limitation concerning border crossing

I was wondering if there is a time limitation when you cross the border to the other side. I am a Turkish cypriot who studies in Europe, in August 2008 I left Cyprus using Larnaca Airport and since then I did not have a chance to go back. I am planning to go back to Cyprus in May and when I try to cross the border will the Turkish Cypriot custom/ police be concerned about my "long stay" in the South? I have absolutely no idea, and I could not find anything about this issue on the net (so far). Therefore, it will be great if someone knows something about this issue and enlighten me:))))

I don't know either but I suppose you just tell them that you flew overseas from Larnaca airport.

as far as I know there is no limitation. Plus from what I know you did not get a stamp in your passport, right? So how would anyone know how long you've 'stayed' in the south?

Actually, the border situation can be a bit retarded.

I have had trouble there because of my "long stays" in the South, which were actually my long stays in England... The border guards either didn't understand, or pretended not to understand, then pestered me about it. But they can't do anything, so if they do bother you, just grind your teeth and wait for them to get bored.

Don't smack the back of your knuckles on the edge of their desk and tell them you're tired and just want to go home for for a beer yaaa. Wink

As far as I know, only Turkish nationals who enter through Larnaca have problems moving to the north. This was the case with my friend Kemal a couple of years ago. He was not allowed to go to the north. I do not know if the situation has changed since.

That would make sense Ban (as much and as little as anything else).

The problems I had were when the border guards didn't understand that, because the UK and the Republic of Cyprus are both in the EU, you don't get stamps in your passport when you enter/leave either.
