wow, you are optimistic!
The papers say it could be opened in ten days, but I don't see it happen so soon. Would be nice though!
I'd like to join, but it really depends on the day/date, as 1. I am working and 2. I am having my parents here at the moment. |

I don't think so stavri. In the meeting on the 21. they might AGREE on the opening and I think from then it will need a few more days. At least thats the timeline I've heard.
Anyway, as long as it really happens one shall not worry about a few more days. |

Fellow Cypriots and fellow Citizens of this Country no matter where you came from or which is your mother tongue. Join us Friday evening at Ledras Street.
After the meeting of our President Christofias with the Turkish Cypriot Leader M.A. Talat we will be gathered there to express our will and our demand for the reopening of Ledras street as a first step of bilateral good will.
And also for “giving peace a chance”. Let us all be there!
......Let us turn Ledras Street into a Peace Avenue !..... |
there will be a meeting, at ledras from these people friday afternoon, in order to pressure the two to open it
see you there |

FREEZE IN LEDRAS
Dear Friends,
We are inviting you to take part in an event at the date of the opening of Ledra Street.
The Brief:
People are invited to meet on Tuesday 1st April at 7p.m. to prepare the following public action that will happen during the celebratory concert taking place on the day of the opening.
Public Action:
All the members of our group will synchronise their watches in a co-ordination meeting beforehand and at exactly the same time all the participants will freeze for 5 minutes. When the five minutes are over all the participants will start moving again as though nothing happened.
Goals/Concept:
The event is a silent comment on the frozen space and time in Ledra Street and Cyprus for the past few decades.
This is a passive action and not a provocation.
It is a celebration of the newfound mobility in this particular space and a hope for a greater mobility in the future.
Details/Clarifications:
1. FREEZE: This means to stop moving and remain immobile in mid-motion. Blinking your eyes is allowed. =)
2. The event is open to all members of the public regardless of age, ethnicity and gender. The more diverse our group is, the more effective the public action will be.
3. There will be two meetings involved.
a. The first meeting on Tuesday 1st April will take place at a studio space (address: Achilleos 7c, next to E.KA.TE, close to OXI roundabout) at 7p.m. to co-ordinate and plan the details of the event (signals etc).
b. The second meeting on the day of the opening will happen one or two hours before visiting Ledra Street to gather all the participants together, synchronise the action and brief any last minute attendants. The exact time and meeting point will be announced on the above meeting.
Global Action:
The idea of the ‘Freeze’ action is borrowed from the international group Improv Everywhere, who are based in New York City and co-ordinate similar events all over the globe.
For more details please visit their website (http://improveverywhere.com/) and for ‘Freeze’ action visit http://improveverywhere.com/2008/01/31/frozen-grand-central/ or their YouTube link, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwMj3PJDxuo
This event has been replicated in dozens of countries all over the globe.
