| In their new joint report, the coalition - comprising Amnesty International, CARE International UK, CAFOD, Christian Aid, Médecins du Monde UK, Oxfam, Save The Children UK and Trócaire - warns that Israel's blockade of Gaza is a collective punishment of the entire Gazan civilian population of 1.5 million. The report concludes that the Israeli government's policy of blockade is unacceptable, illegal and fails to deliver security for Palestinians and Israelis alike. |

Christian Aid's Director, Daleep Mukarji, said:
"The UK government should acknowledge that a new strategy is needed for Gaza. The current policy does not secure vital security for Israeli citizens, and even if it did the blockade policy would still be unacceptable and illegal. Humanitarian aid can help stave off total collapse but it will not provide a long-term solution. Gaza cannot become a partner for peace unless Israel, Fatah and the Quartet engage with Hamas and give the people of Gaza a future." |

Brother if the Jews have BIG BROTHER on their side what do you expect?
IF I was Iran I would just shut up and listen and do as you are told because I am sure that Israel will not be intimidated by Iran or any other country!
If Israel does attack Iran then Syria, Pakistan and Turkey may have to start to take note because they are also on the hit list!
cheers DP!

The humanitarian impact of the West Bank barrier - Updated No. 8 Jul 2008
http://www.reliefweb.int/rw/rwb.nsf/db900SID/KKAA-7GE73B?OpenDocument
| Quote: |
| In the northern West Bank where the Barrier is already constructed, a restrictive permit and gate regime has severely limited the access of Palestinian farmers to their lands and water resources in the closed area between the Barrier and the Green Line. The main part of this report focuses on the village of Jayyus, most of whose productive land is cut off in the closed area. Reduced opportunity for cultivation has led to the dismantling of greenhouses, and a change to lower-maintenance but lower-yield crops. As a result, there is increased unemployment, evidence of displacement especially among young men, and the transformation of a community which formerly exported food to a recipient of food aid. The concern is that if the land to the west of the Barrier in the rest of the West Bank is declared closed by military order, and the permit and gate regime is instituted, the predicament of Jayyus, Qalqiliya and Salfit will be replicated with devastating consequences for Palestinian livelihoods |

First Person: Gaza on brink of humanitarian catastrophe
By BILL DIENST
GUEST COLUMNIST
The desperate situation in Gaza is not a natural disaster, such as a hurricane or an earthquake. This disaster is man-made, born of Israel's desire to make Gazans as miserable, and therefore submissive, as possible. The rest of the world does not have to ignore this situation, but many of those who have used the phrase "never again," fall silent when a new atrocity against Palestinians is under way.
This August, a group of 40 international human rights activists from 15 countries, including Palestinians and Israelis, will attempt to sail directly from the island of Cyprus into the besieged Palestinian territory of Gaza. I will participate as the ship's doctor. Two ships, provided by an organization called the Free Gaza Movement, will challenge Israel's policy of imprisoning 1.4 million Palestinians within the Gaza Strip.

GAZA, (PIC)-- MP Jamal Al-Khudari, the head of the popular committee against the siege, announced Sunday that two ships, under the auspices of the Free Gaza Movement, will sail from Cyprus to the Gaza Strip on August 5th, in an attempt to break the Israeli siege imposed on the Strip.
In a press conference, MP Khudari stated that one ship will be carrying humanitarian aid and the other will be boarded by human rights activists, media crews and other personalities.
The lawmaker expected that the Israeli occupation will intercept the ships as they enter the Gaza waters, pointing out that there are seats allocated for media workers who will cover the events on air.
The lawmaker also said that in the event of the arrival of the ships to the Gaza shore safely, they will transport Palestinian patients for medical treatment abroad.
The lawmaker noted that ten large boats, boarded by representatives of the popular committee against the siege and other anti-siege institutions in addition to journalists, will leave the Gaza shore to receive the Cypriot ships.
The lawmaker underlined that the passengers of this voyage are aware of the dangers they may face during their sailing venture, adding that if the Israeli occupation assaulted the ships, it would be an appropriate opportunity to show the viciousness of the Israeli siege and aggression through media outlets.

What do you expect IF the Arabs have ALL turned there back on Palestine?
Everyone blame the Jews BUT don't forget Jordan, Kuwait, Syria, Lebanon and others have stolen land from the Palestinians BUT you don't hear anyone talking about them! It is only the Jews and the USA!
You never know they could be paying the Jews to never give the Palestians what they want because when the conflict ends the Palestinians will be looking to get there other land as well!
Look at Turkey they wont give an inch back of the land it stole and you expect the Arabs to give back land to Palestinians?????
Who is the real enemy in Cyprus?
The Cypriots themselves!
cheers |

Second, the Palestinians are not our enemies. In fact, I urge my fellow Israeli Jews to disassociate from the dead-end politics of our failed political leaders by declaring, in concert with Israeli and Palestinian peace-makers: We refuse to be enemies. Only that assertion of popular will can signal our government that we are fed up with being manipulated by those profiting from the Occupation.

I wish I could report that all the delays and setbacks that this project has experienced were just a clever means of screening participants for patience and commitment, and that we're just trying to make the trip into Gaza seem easy by comparison. I wish. The truth is that nearly all of the problems between Greece and Cyprus were unanticipated. As much as we have been careful to imagine and discuss all the permutations of entry into Gaza, we have not done the same for the journey to Cyprus. Nor do I think we could have. This part of the project was necessarily entrusted to our highly resourceful Greek team, who had to do it in a way that would protect the boats. Unfortunately, there seems to be an unending series of unforeseen hurdles to overcome, and that is still the case. The experience might be familiar to our Palestinian colleagues, who have to deal with arbitrary obstacles and delays all the time. We simply have to adjust. This might mean canceling plans, modifying expectations, and suppressing disappointment. If possible, keep a sense of perspective and humor. I still think it will all be worth it. Paul
