CAN SOMEONE HELP?
I am looking for Hotel rooms for the International guests who are coming to the forum? They are coming in October for preparation and we want to accommodate them prefereably in Kyrenia because it is the closest sea side town to Ledra Palace where the conference will take place.
I can book the hotels on the internet however I want to make sure that the hotel that I am going to put them in is not an illegally constructed Hotel on Greek Cypriot property. Can someone advise me or suggest a place to accommodate the guests |

You can try Colony Hotel. I'm pretty sure it's built on the Turkish Cypriot land, it's relatively new and it's right in Kyrenia and as a result, it doesn't have a beach.
Other options are Mercure which is very new and in good shape, Jasmine Court, and Merit. I don't know the "legal status" of these hotels though so you have to find that out yourself. |

Excuse me Stavros, but why aren't you looking for accomodation in either part of Nicosia, since the conference will be held in Ledra Palace....?
Any reason that it needs to be Kyrenia/Girne or any reason that it should not be Nicosia? |

No, it is built on Greek Cypriot land. There used to be a Greek Cypriot house with a large garden there. After 74, it was given to a family who started to build a apartment but never managed to completely finish the construction. So that place remained like a contruction site for years. After that, a Turkish Cypriot and a British business men bought the place as far as I know and they turned that place to Colony.

Jasmine and Merit are both Greek Cypriot owned hotels which were modernised after 90s and names changed. They are both owned by Turkish businessman or more accurately, by the Turkish mafia. Merit was called Zephyrus (the god of the west wind ). I can't remember the original name of Jasmine hotel. |

Because the Turkish Cypriot guy who is the facilitator of the project wants the guests to be somewhere by the sea while not in the conference. Why? He believes that the guests would be able to relax better by the sounds of the waves.
Anyway it seems like theguests will stay in the hotel Acapulco. I am not 100% sure whether if tis build on Greek Cypriot owned land or Turkish Cypriot land. Does anyone think that the credibility of the whole conference will be afected if the guests stay in the North? |

As long as they are told the truth about who really owns the land/place I see no problem with them staying in the north - might even be extra educational. |

| unfortunately another promising project is struggling, more committed people are needed. I really plead those who really want to make a difference to get out there and speak up through the numerous civil society initiatives. |
