Well it is clear now that the Presidential race will be a race between Tpap, Kasoulides and Christofias, so can we all vote for who we think will win and if possible tell us why you voted for them, this will be very useful imo.

I THINK ONLY PEOPLE THAT CAN ACTUALLY VOTE SHOULD DO THE POLL BUT OTHERS LIKE THE Turkish Cypriot WHO CANNOT VOTE CAN POST THEIR OPINIONS ON WHO THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE WIN AND WHY.

Brother,

I wouldn't make predictions just yet about who will be the final 2, if it gets to that.

Personally I would not vote for either of them!

Brother I suggest you edit the thread... it is definately not a two horse race with Chrostofias, Tpap and Kasoulides sharing approx. 30% of the votes in the first round.

Personally I want Christofias for a difference but imo he will not win

I hope Christofias wins so with CTP in power in the north and AKEL in power in the south, we can determine how useful/useless is the leftist ideology in Cyprus in terms of real world problem solving.

i think it makes no sense to have a poll.
we are around 10 Greek Cypriot we participate in the forum lately and our views are well known.

but since the Turkish Cypriot opinion was asked , it would be interesting to know how the Turkish Cypriot press has presented the whole topic .

The latest poll shows:
Papadopoullos: 30.8%
Cassoulides: 29.6%
Christofias: 26.3%
Themistokleous: 0.7%

Last April the poll showed:
Papadopoullos: 37.7%
Cassoulides: 32.4%
Christofias: 23.9%

But I am confident that Outopos will come along and get 100% of the votes hehehehehehehe

I have to confess to being 'scared' of just about any result. I fear TP getting re elected and all that would mean for the chances of a solution and a fear him not getting elected and us discovering even without him we are unable to find a solution - and not because Turkey will not allow one, but because we as Cypriots refuse to find one, for I do not believe that Turkey could block for long a true pan cypriot consensus should we ever prove capable of finding such.

Maybe I am just on a downer at a moment ? Sad

So assuming that the 'remainder' are the 'undecided' it would seem that post Akel announcement to put forward a candidate, the 'swing' would seem to be undecided +6.6%, Akel + 2.4%, Themistokleous + 0.7%, Cassoulides -2.8%, TP - 6.9 %

Then again practical maths has never been my strong point Smile

Think of it this way, Erol. If Papadopoulos is reelected and we don't have a solution for another 4-5 years in his term, the same people who solely blame Papadopoulos for a non-solution will have one more reason to continue their blame game. Nobody will learn anything new and all we'd achieve is to add 4-5 more years to the already wasted 44 years.

However, if Papadopoulos is not elected and say we have Christofias, then it gets a little more interesting. If we have a solution, then it's all good. If not, at least those who think that only one person is responsible of today's non-solution will hopefully wake up and realize that we have deeper problems than one man can create. Also, it'll be interesting to see how effective/ineffective the leftist ideology is in terms of solving problems when we have an openly communist party in the south and a socialist/leftist party in the north. Let's see what kind of an "imperialist" excuse they'll invent this time.

So yeah...even it's only for the "interestingness" factor, I prefer anyone but Papadopoulos, preferably Christofias. I just want to see these die-hard leftists change the world...I mean Cyprus Smile

I wouldn't vote for any of the bastards!
Tpapa has a bloody past!
Christofias! Forget it he is like Kyprinos and dead head!
Kassolidis may be good but his PARTY is a bunch of Fools:
I would prefer a woman like Rena Kastellis or even a Cypriot NOT born in Cyprus: Some one who is rich and doesn't have to line his pockets with money!
cheers
PS doesn't matter who wins they will take turns in ruining the country and making their OWN personal wealth and their mates as well:

The question has a problem. Who we think is going to win or who do we favor? The answers to these questions can be separate and independent.

I think its far too early to speculate who is going to win. It will be a photo finish race for the first round. As for the second round, anything goes.

As for who I would like to win, my views are well known and I don't need to reiterate them. At the end though, democracy shall win. (Of course if democracy winning is a good or bad thing is a matter of yet another lengthy debate which is not the premise of this discussion).
