CTD according to Greek Cypriot friends of mine , you can only mortgage through a Greek Bank and if you wan't to sell you can only sell to the government !
But and this is a big BUT the price the Government will give you is 1974 prices |

Sorry mate i don't know many details just what was told to me from my Friends ,
One Man Theo Andreas asked me to ask around if there was anyone interested in his land in the north , but before anything sorted out he went to the Cyprus High Commision in London and they Told him that he could only sell to the Gov at 1974 prices , so he told them where to stick it , |

If you want to mortage it, call a bank. They are the ones that will decide if they want to lend you the money...
www.bankofcyprus.com for example.
Everything else is in the end hearsay... Most important for them is most likely if you will pay back the money or not..., especially since it is difficult for them to take your property from you if you do not pay. |

| Crash another thing you could consider is applying to the property comission in the North. If the land is unused currently there is a very high chance that the comission will 'return' your land to you under Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus jurisdiction and then you would be free to sell said land in the north at current market values. |

They are afraid that they will be branded Traitors if they take the route that you mention Erol |
