Another too late night here on the forum..., with the late re-run of Bir running on the TV. And the question popped up:
Is the program viewed by the Turkish Cypriot community?
If so, how is it received?

My thought was just that I do not know anyone that has watched Bayrak's news in Greek more than once..., and I was wondering if Biz is seen at all on 'the other side'.
In general I think having some common media would be great; for example a bi-communal English speaking radio station to start with. |

Yep that's the one - seems to have two viewers in Cyprus...
BTW, the channel Sigma is now running a Cypriot/Turkish soap series. A Greek Cypriot baby girl was picked up by a Turkish soldier in 1974 after the mother was killed by the soldiers. The girl was brought up i Istanbul, learned Greek, was a tourist guide. As a grown up her Turkish foster mother tells her she is actually Greek Cypriot..., she breaks up with her Turkish fiance, comes to Cyprus, finds her family, after comes the Turkish guy and goes completely mad, right now he has shot a Greek Turkish friend that came with her to Cyprus and kidnapped her, hiding in Nicosia..., really nasty guy... (My only excuse is that the wife has it on while I hammer away on this site.)
I bet you this series is more influential than Biz/Emeis... |
