Hi -
I'm a university student from America, spending a few months in Nicosia, Cyprus. I am beginnning my final research project on language study of 'the other' in Cyprus. I'm looking for students of all ages, but preferably older than 16, who are studying the language of 'the other' either in school or on their own, who would be willing to be interviewed as part of my research. I have about 3.5 more weeks to do these interviews, so if you are willing to help me please let me know as soon as you can!! Thank you very much!

| By my definition, 'the other' for a Greek Cypriot is a Turkish Cypriot, and 'the other' for a Turkish Cypriot is a Greek Cypriot. This is just a term we have been using in our lectures. |

One of our members called Leon is actually learning and would be a fantastic candidate, i hope he see this and gets in touch with you, as does Filio.
Also the moderator City is currently learning 'the other' language too. |

| I only know the bad words, of "the other". Seriously now, have you been to the University? You will find many candidates there and also some high schools where pupils have chosen Turkish as a subject. |

yes, but City is too much of 'other' as she is German and living in Germany.
I only started with Turkish lessons to be able to communicate with the locals when in Cyprus. (and before anyone asks: yes, I did Greek as well) |

We used to have a guy at work that went round shouting "ben pust" (pushed) because we told him it meant I'm happy. |

Thank you Bullika, but
1. I don't really trust you (remember 'My big fat Greek wedding'?)
2. its hard enough to cope with 'normal' Turkish, let alone Gibrizlija (sp)

I noticed how you used plural to refer to Daşşak (Very clever observation!) and you spelt it correctly unlike me! To be frank it didn't occur to me that Daşak are plural, but you re right, you can't just have one Daşak, can you? |
