| You really need to check this national service business out because my information is different but it does relate to the 60s and 70s so maybe the rules have changed. I was born in UK, my father in Cyprus. I have a UK passport but was offered dual nationality which I declined because that would have meant national service. More recently my cousin's son born in UK aged 30 has been to Cyprus on holiday but had no problems. Ask The Cyprus High Commission. |
Lewis,
Did they not offer you a months worth of service with a wooden gun for an exchange of 8,000.00 dollars? The Turkish government does. On the weekends you get to go to all the hotspots and party. |

Generally forget any websites. They do not usually have much availabilities or are outdated. Unless maybe some big companies have a 'career' section on their hompage. |
actually Cyprus had an excellent government website for jobs which listed everything in real-time and allowed you to submit for an interview online. The good news is that it was replaced by an EU-wide website covering the whole of Europe and Cyprus. You don't need to register, it contains all the jobs (in real time), allows you to narrow a search down etc.

| Xenos an old fart like me would have to decline the partying and hotspots but I'd be a Turk for a month for the money - I could buy a new zimmer frame! |

My previous post referred to British Cypriots (ie also born in UK of Cypriot father) who come here to live on a permanent basis. I think the ruling applies until your 50th birthday - or you have three children.
My son comes on holiday, but holds a life-long exit visa which he has had for many years. My grandson is only 8, so don't know what will happen when he reaches 18-plus and wants to come on holiday as he too has a Greek surname.
However, I don't know if the Cyprus High Commission in London issue these now. It's a good idea to check with them as they will have all the latest information.
Hope this makes my last post a bit clearer.
Thanks,
Anna. |

Thanks Andy, but it seems it doesn't have much entries, I found three offers for permanent jobs in all occupations Maybe its more suitable for seasonal jobs like waiter or barmaid. |

My brothers coming out with us as well and I think the Turks have asked him to do a month of service, Dad was born over there but Bruv was born over here and apparently if he spends longer than 2 months over there he has to do it, but with the right amount of cash he gets out of it.
But if I find out anymore i'll post it....
sounds like an adventure for you though!
good luck! |
