I know recently I stated that Moose should run this site...but if this is the case, then sorry Moose buddy...and you know what I am talking about...then I retract my statement!! lol

I don't really know why I got a warning...I don't know about winding up either, I was only quoting as to what someone said, and that he spend 3 pages trying to wiggle out of it, by insinuading other wise...very childish...

That was on the 18th and the post was locked...I go to China for 4 days, come back, too busy for the forum, and on the 29th, yes the 29th that someone complains that I mispelled his name back on the 18th...and demands action...maybe the wrong time of the month who knows?...go figure...So moose quarantines the post, and gives each a warning...again go figure 10 days later...

Then Moose joins in calling it jesting...well I also think my posts were on the jesty side...your posts are jesty...hell even Eric's post are on the jesty side...the question is who is in a position to question others about their jestiness?

To be honest I am pretty fed up with all these acusations of bias.

We are doing our best. The site was setup and is run by a group of people of all ethnicities. Not Greek Cypriot alone, not Turkish Cypriot alone. I have had accusations of bias from Turkish Cypriot and from Greek Cypriot.

It takes time and effort to run this site. We will not always get it right but we try our best. We have laid down the principals of how the site is to be run and by whom and we welcome and encourage member input and debate into these issues.

Indivduals who are unable to behave in an acceptable manner and who are then censured by those running this site will inevitably accuse the site of bias, rather than look to their own actions, for blaming someone (anyone else) for your own faults is a seemingly a cypriot national sport and one not reserved only for cypriot politians.

The bottom line is this site, unlike most others, is NOT run by a single indivdual person from one community alone, with absolute totalitarian control. I could easily have set the site up this way but decided that this was not the right way to structure the site adminstration. There is a balance of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot and non Cypriots involved in this site.

If people followed the rules and the spirit of the site there would not need to be any action or decisions from moderators. That those who do not follow the rules (some repeatedly) blame their actions of 'bais moderators' is I guess inevitable.

If someone can show me a less bias cyprus discussion forum in principal and in practice than this one then I would like to know about. Also if any member has suggestions for how the site can be improved then I what to know about it. If however indvidual members treat the site and the sites other members with disrespect and contempt and then scream 'bias' when they are sanctioned for such actions, then there is little for me to do except sigh at the inevitablity of this.

May I remind everyone of the 'mission statement' of this forum

It says it all, and surely, being childish, name calling other members, inciting hatred etc etc does not contribute to this in any way.

Regarding members being banned I would assume everyone has understand the process by now. It might occur that someone does not visit the forum for a number of days and when he/she returns he finds a post thats offending to him/her. Hence, the blue card is used (with a certain delay) and this calls for action from the moderators.
We can not be here 24/7 and therefore rely on members common sense to a certain extent. Everyone should be capable of behaving in a decent and respectful way towards any other member. If a post is deemed unacceptable then blue card it. Thats miles better then diving into a meaningless and insulting conversation with that poster.

I can definitely assure you that the team of mods/admins is not biased in any way. Believe me, we have heated discussions on various issues and I find it simply not fair to accuse us of being biased.
It would definitely be easier to run the forum autocratic, but that would serve in no way the aim the forum has (see quote above).

Its a pity that some members do not appreciate the effort spend on said aim and constantly moan about how the forum rules are applied.

I sincerely hope that everyone reconsiders why he/she is a member of this forum and if he/she decides that the above quoted aim is not something he/she could subscribe to or is at least willing to work towards then I'm sure there are other fora out there that might serve your needs in a better way.

post removed because it is offensiove and it is from a user already banned (DIGENIS-ACRITAS) who has signed up under a new username, the 4th or 5th such resiging by this banned user.

I am now placing a permanent ban on this user. Not a one week one. They have shown they can not abide by the rules and only wish to incite hatred. They will be permanently blocked from this site to the best of my abilites.

Any futher attempts to undermine this forum by this user digenis-acritas and I will be contacting their ISP (in the UK) and informing them of their behaviour and the possible criminal offense of inciting racial hatred.

The one thing that annoys me about religion, whether it be Islam, Christianity, etc... (and don't get me wrong, I am a Greek Orthodox, although I don't take everything at face value, you have to question things, it's human nature), is that some people feel that they can take the 'higher moral upper ground'...did not Jesus tell us to 'Love thy neighbor' and 'turn the other cheek'?!?
