so next time all you have to say is that you are jesting at the bottom of your post and you shouldn't get a warning...perfectly allowed in this forum, according to moose...
The same with Digenis-Akritas...the poor bastard got a ban for nothing...if only he wrote jesting at the bottom of every post... 
I bet he will be writing jesting at the bottom of every post from now on... |

this whole thing is getting childish.
just drop the whole subject and stop having duscussions with eric (just like many of us do). it is so simple. all the rest , is really a waste of time , and not interesting for the rest of us to read.

i dont consider that nothing from the "poor" thing, i consider it very serious.
and before, anyone starts turning this in another conspiracy of the kind , them against the poor "us" (bc it happens too often) , i hope you noticed that tufan is also banned. and he was banned, without even completing the 10 warnings.
and as much as i like tufan, i must admit that he deserved it. his post was completely out of character, and he wrote it, knowing that it would be deleted - i.e. making fun of the rules.
in short, i dont care (reading) if eric is gay , and i dont want to read propaganda posters that islam is evil , nor i want to read posts of people swearing at eaxh others mother.
and i am not jesting. |

No I don't give a continental whether some one is gay or not, but trying to say he didn't say it and this wiggling went for 3 pages, and then having a mod telling me that was jesting, well what can I say...maybe the mod was jesting...who knows?
Yes I am also sorry to see tufan get banned...well he didn't know the small print in the rule book...I also bet when he comes back, he will be writing I was jesting at the bottom of his posts and everything should be honky dory...
I am with you on this one...I am also here to debate, but to call it jesting it puts a different spin on everything that is written...
And as far as digenis is concerned, whats to say he wasn't jesting?...Have you asked him?...I am also against this type of mentality, but I will never be sure now, wise old moose made jesting acceptable...So whats to say the guy is not here to have some cheap laughs by jesting?...can you be sure of this? |

Oh come on...anyone who takes that Islam poster seriously has problems. I took that as tongue in cheek and there are countless such images around the net taking the mick out of Christianity.
Digenis Akritas probably writes the most interesting posts on this site. |

Thanks for the support Cypez... but as you can see from Boomer's response, some people like to be too smart for their own good and fail to see the point... To be honest, I've had it up to ^ with moderating some of the people on this forum who seem to delight in being members of the awkward squad. If they behaved this way on the streets they would be laughed at, but I guess that's why internet fora exist.
Saying 'I jest' does not mean that you have carte blanche to be offensive... again, moderation is subjective and it is blantently obvious when someone is being offensive and when they are joking. So, should you cross the line, even if you attach a proviso saying 'I jest' your post may receive a warning. If you can't accept that, I suggest you go elsewhere and conduct your very tedious and uninspiring personal battles elsewhere... you could even download Skype and offend each other directly. 
All I can say is thank God I'm not around for a week, this has all got really pathetic recently (excluding the many decent members anyway). |

I have not been posting much recently; I have been put off, and some of the antics which have put me off are a disgrace.
They fail my test of Internet posting: "would you dare utter that in the street using a megaphone? If not, don't post it" 
I have never visited Cyprus, although I would like to ... from the example being set here the last clause is in danger of changing to "I would have liked to"  |

if you want to consider yourself , as a "serious" member , then just do not respond to not-serious posts. believe me it works.
responding to non-serious posts, puts your own seriosity in question
as for the jesting argument. first i dont have a clue, what happened between (i assume) you , eric and the mods. perhaps you are even right and the mods are wrong. but continuing this discussion is not bringing anything. it is just adding to the not-serious posts on this forum.
and please, if you want to continue contributing some serious posts , dont start exagurating your argument about jesting and filling the place, with post of the kind : "cypezokyli is an asshole..... i am just jesting".
common boomer, you (if i am not mistaken) have invested time so this forum can have the 3D "news , facts, opinion" part of its logo. i know that you care, and imo you are only going to do this forum good, if you just drop the whole thing. |

I didnt say applaud his sense of humour, stop twisting things all the time. What im saying is that I disagree that on the back of that post he should be banned permanently. I've heard various Turkish Cypriot say that the Greek Orthodox church is corrupt and evil, etc etc....so why the double standards again??? |

So this is basically echoing my points of inconsistant moderation. One minute we are told to strictly adhere to the rules, then the next, when we do...we are called awkward.
I dont get it...is moderation subjective or upholding rules? |

The pro-Tukish bias is on the back of your buddies like Tufan (who only got banned because I bothered to use the blue card system) and Eric who constantly, make insutling remarks without any warnings.
...but when I call someone something tame like 'ignorant' or 'knucklehead'...its deemed offensive (by Erolz) to receive one myself. The FIRST TIME KKK-Grey-hairy-Wolf boy Tufan called me a 'negro wannabe'...nothing was done at all. The same can be said of other offenses made by Turks here.
If I made no point in using this blue card feature over the last week, there would still have been no warnings given to the Turks who have offended on this site. |

If what was said about the proposition that you quickly dismissed as jestering, I don’t know the rules in the EU, in Australia and the US you could have been taken to court…and the judge isn’t going to see it as jestering…In an office of 20 people I guarantee you someone will take offence…Are you saying that this person belongs in the awkward bunch?
