| Nothing to do with the DLO. All has to do with my father dying before he could sort out his property business.... |

Mete , Levent has been writing about a T/C crook with connections in the south (he even mentioned the other day in his article in Politis that the wife of this crook works for the CYBC!!)
The Kibris case is a different one, concerning several G/Cs including a muhtar who forged a power of attorney from 2 old T/Cs "authorizing" him to sell their property in the south. They even went as far as "producing" Belgian passpors to "prove" that the owners left Cyprus before 1974 so the sale could be effected much easier.Fortunately the DLO did its job well and the case was uncovered.Due to my profession I happen to know very well how the Cyprus DLO operates and i am confident to say that they are extremely investicative so to speak when dealing with transfer of land even when this is done from parents to children. Still, mistakes do take place and i urge T/Cs who havent already done so, to pay a visit to the DLO of the respective district they or their parents own land in the South and request issuance of fresh title deeds (Kocans).DLO operations are now computerised and such issuance is very easy at a very small fee.The issuance of a fresh kocan is recorded and as a recent entry it gives that much more protection to the owner. |
If I have the original title deeds for my lands why should be necessary to obtain new ones and why would it be a much more protection? Am I right in saying that deeds are deeds and never run out? |
You are absolutely right.A fresh entry at the DLO however, brings up the dust so to speak making any potential crook think twice about any fishy business if he knows the rightful owner is interested and vigilant about his property.Plus, the new computerised kocans contain all the new details of the land which often differ from the old ones after the computerisation of the DLO and also accompanied by the relevant topography of the land so the owner or his heirs who probably never saw the actual land can spot it easier.Just take my word for it Eric....I have been trying to bring up to date my late father's kocans for a year now.... |
Just take yur wrd for it? LOL yeah, that's a good one.
My father has the original Kocan and the topography and he and his children know exactly where the land is so I think we'll just keep those thank you very much.
Who knows, by getting the new Kocans we Turkish Cypriots might counter the same troubles as when some Turkish Cypriot's applied and recieved the "Cypriot passport". |

Paphos developers are facing some red tapeism with government regulations. roperty developers point the finger of blame at the planning authorities, local authorities and the government, while the government, planning authorities and local authorities point the finger of blame at the property developers.
All of them contribute to the delays and problems, but none of them is prepared to put it’s own house in order.

Land! Land ! Land!
Maybe they should say MONEY! MONEY! MONEY!
That is the main issue!
Many Greek Cypriot have mortgaged there land in the north to get money for educating there children and also building their children a HOME:
FAIR ENOUGH!
BUT then the banks tell communicate with the Turkish Cypriot about the mortgaged land and then it starts to get developed!
VERY INTERESTING!
My cousin mortgaged her land to the bank so her daughter can study in England and a few months latter the Turkish Cypriot started building on this land!
NO not the land next to it who belongs to my other cousin BUT her land!
NO not the land across the road closer to the BEACH but her land!
AND hot the land with NO lemon trees BUT her one with 200 lemons trees and if yoiu don't believe me the land is now called Lapta Gardens!
AMAZING GRACE!
cheers and KEEP ripping the poor people! |

A friend's colleague sold his property by Kerynia harbour. Weird case, a Norwegian man paid for it North and then tracked him down and made him an offer, too, 'to be on the safe side'. The guy told him the offer was unrealistic, so the Norwegian left his number. Another colleague of his suggested he ask for a huge price. The Norwegian guy shook on it.
Obviously this is a rare case, that guy North must be loaded. |
