'False' users signing up just to 'advertise'

We are getting increasing numbers of sign up for accounts on the forum with apparently the only interest in getting a link in their profile to their websites - many of which are 'dodgy'.

I periodicaly remove all users that have signed up but not activated their accounts and this deals with most of the spam users. However some do also activate their accounts and I am having trouble keeping up to date with removing their 'advertisment links' (or in the case of very dodgy links their entire accounts). So the upshot is I am going to 'promote' both Dhav and City from moderator status to admin status, whihc means they can help out with this forum house keeping.

So congrats to City and Dhav our 2 new admins.

(PS City and Dhav were chosen simply because they are most active in 'spotting' such users. It is not reflection on the remiaing mods that they have not been similarly 'promoted')

it is true theyare often annoying.

i never used that blue card system (i find it kind of childish ) but would it make your job easier if we did ?

No, bluecarding wouldn't help as most of these users never post.
They simply sign up to promote their unsuitable links (mostly porn).

City: I once logged into my forum (you know the foot fetish one) and there were 950 members registered! I couldnt believe it! I mean the last time I looked there were 115, but fortuntely Brother (who is also admin) deleted them. They were all fake!
