as much as this guy is hated by many religious people...ie the catholic church, he still can write a bloody good book, that keeps you going till the end.
ive read 'the da vinci code', and am currently reading 'angels and demons'. I recommend them to anyone who likes scientific + religious facts, mixed with good storytelling. i know that makes it sound boring, but he is a good story teller, making it sound much more intriguing than it probably is in real life.
some of the stuff, like a mach-15 jet, can make 'Angels and demons' seem a bit far fetched though, but so can the da vinci code. |

Unfortuately the forum does not come with a merge function built in :(
Actually merging sounds simple but can be extremely comples.
I will see if I can add this mod
http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/1690
without breaking the whole forum, now we have a candidate thread to test it on. |

| I have seen a few documentaries about the davinci code/holy grail and I really dont see the point of it. A big loads of rubish. Have not read any of his books so I cant say anything about Dan Brown but he must be doing something right if he has sold that many books |

The book has really something special. Personally, I dont think that I am affected much by advertising. It makes you believe that everything is real and in the end it gives you the real shock.

well,I'm not sure if it really worked fine, Erol. The thread is there twice now. One says "moved" and states only 3 replies, but when you look into it, its the complete thread again.... |

Dan brown is agood story teller, whether there is truth in what he is saying i would not be able to say. They are interesting arguemnets, but he doesnt talk about orthodoxys involvement etc...it really is anti-catholic i think, as if they are the only christian church on earth.
Bro you said islam is not so open about this kind of thing, why do you think that is?
(Ive heard, and i dont mean to offend, but people say that islam is going through the 'middle ages' when christianity had 'problems' between its fundimentist/liberal factions.) |

No that is how it is supposed to work. The other 'thread' is a 'shadow link'. The idea is when you move (or merge) a thread from one area to another you leave behind a 'shadow link' in the old location so people can still find the thread after it has been moved / merged. This shadow link links to the new location so all new posts are added to the new loaction, and will slowly sink down the list as it never gets a 'new post' in it's onw right (they all go to the new location). For this example I propably should not have left a shadow link at all ( you get that option when moving or merging a thread) as the mergerd thread was alreay in the same section of the forum and the same name, but I wanted to test it.
The merge function is pretty 'basic'. I think it either orders the merged posts in date order or just appends them to the merged to thread, but it will still have it's uses no doubt.
Anyway back on topic before I have to give myself a warning |
