It seems the Turkish Cypriot property commision is moving forward.

KKTC puts final touches in property issue
Wednesday, March 22, 2006
At least the deadlines seems to be met...
However, I have yet to see the exact laws or rules that the commission will work according to. If they these are just so vague that the whole issue is just delegated for the commission to deal with as they see fit, without clear guidelines and transparency, then I do not think it will be very successful on the European arena.
Since the Xenides-Arestis property is empty, I suppose the final verdict on the commission itself will be on whether the property is given back or not. In short, if it is not given back, then I believe no one can say the domestic remedies are working. |

| If the property is empty i think they should give it back TODAY and without fail and they can live under the same rules as everyone else in the North until a solution is found. |

| ehm, the lawer of miss aresti argued today that the appeal made by other Greek Cypriot lawyers, is likely to delay this procedure - or if they manage , to completely amend it |

This rehashed property comission will be a sham!
I believe that the property in question lies in Varosha. If this area is under the control of the Turkish military, how can this person be 'given' back the property and how can this person go and live there if they wished to? It is a joke! |

Mikkie i think they will eventually have to open that area sooner than later, i really do not understand the need for people not to be allowed home if their land of property is vacant, it is the humane and right thing to do, 30 years is enough suffering and if it was a twisted logic to teach them a lesson i think they have learnt it. |

The reason Varosha is controlled by the military is that the UN (US) has not allowed Turkey to populate it for civilian use. |

Even if (when) they get the property back, they may choose not to settle there. Perhaps they will use it as a second home. It is up to them, isn't it. |

well bro , as i said here :
http://www.talkcyprus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3296
some other lwayers are making an appeal.
the reason is that they believe that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is illegal therefore those cases should not be treatd there.
at the same time, they argued that the court is biased.
the lawyer of miss aresti , appeared "pissed" with this development.
so the delay can be causedby turkey using the appeal the Greek Cypriots lawyers made as an excuse.
the amendment , or the complete removal will come if the Greek Cypriots lawyers manage to win.
we ll see.... |
