AN English-language university should open by 2008 at the latest in the Paphos town of Yeroskipou, pending government approval of the plans.

The new university will be built by the private exchange company Pandora, of which Leptos Estates is the main shareholder.

General Manager of Pandora Charalambos Hadjipanayiotou told the Cyprus Mail yesterday that the university would cover 100,000 square metres near the Amathus hotel in Yeroskipou and would eventually have a carrying capacity of 3,000 students.
Hadjipanayiotou said that the project meets the government goal of promoting the alternative tourism market since the purpose is to draw students from abroad.

“There may be special courses taught in Greek, like certain archaeology classes, but the official language of the university will be English in an effort to draw foreign students.
