I've just seen a documentary about the television in Cyprus, both sides.
Again on the german/french TVchannell Arte. Smile

http://www.arte-tv.com/de/woche/244,broadcastingNum=523339,day=1,week=4,year=2006.html

Some historical facts how/when the channels on both sides were founded and what is the main channels current programms, which way they are heading etc etc.

They mentioned one show that is called 'Biz Emeis' that is obviously broadcasted by Sigma (?), but is produced by journalists from both sides and also features guest from both sides of the island. The show is moderated by a Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot journalist, so the language alternates and is respectively subtitled then.

I'm interseted if any of you knows this programme and what do you think about it.

jesus christ.

it seems it is from RIK. and this guy who writes in the Greek Cypriot dialect seems to be really pissed with it.
i wanted to put a piece of what he sais, but that would piss him even more (as he mentions in his website). therefore for any Greek Cypriot interested, you can have a pleasure of reading the whole thing.

I think it's made by PIK too. I've never seen a Turkish programme on Sigma.

well moose it doesnt take much to make the connection, especially if you are a Greek Cypriot. sigma - radio proto - simerini - lazaros mavros-etc etc Wink
its not the kind of thing you would expect from them to do.

I've watched this program a few times. Their use of language is a problem: They try to keep things within the Republic of Cyprus "guidlines" without infuriating the Turkish Cypriots. This is sooooooo difficult some times...

Yes, they mentioned that in the docu as well. Sometimes they really have to be creative to find expressions that do not offend either of the two sides.

i would like to admit that i when i posted the above, , i was kind of fast to judge the website. sometimes i guess we see some words, and is appears to be clear, from what direction they come (eg allothriskoi).

anyway, after some re-ckecking of the web-site, i have to apologive for my negative remarks.

even though i must say that in the article it was not clear, if the person was in favor or against the programm Wink
i had to search some more topics to understand the character of the website.
apologies once again to the website owner
