A private visit in last autumn has convinced me that it be time to
explore the antiquities of Cyprus together with a group of my
students. So, I have a couple of questions and would be grateful for
any reply:
1. To the Cypriot Greek members of this list:
-- Is there any public transport between Corallia Bay and Paphos /
Ktima? (We will be baed in C.B. for a couple of days and want to visit
the antiquities of phaphos form there)
-- Is there a reduction on the entrance fee to archeological sites
(Ancient Paphos, Curium, Amatous) for students?
-- Could you recommend a reasonably priced hotel in Southern Nicosia
(unfortunately, my travel agent can't)
2. To the Cypriot Turk members:
-- I understand that there is a dolmush service beetween Nicosia and
Kyrenia. What about public transport between Nicosia and Famagusta?
And between Nicosia and Salamis?
Alternatively, could you recommend a bus company that could provide
transport for a Nicosia -- Salamis -- Famagusta -- Nicosia day trip?
Thanks to everybody who is willing to give me some advice!

Hi sla019 and welcome to the forum
There are 'dolmush' mini vans or dolmush taxis between Kyrenis/Girne and Nicosia and Nicosia and Famagusta. I am not sure about Famagusta / Salamis, but probaly there are. You would need to know where the 'destination' of the dolmush is, that goes past salamis and ask them to drop you there.
As far as arranging a bus for travel ion the North I would recommend contacting Kaleidoskop Tourism in Girne. They are a travel agent but I am sure they would be happy to just help arrange such transport in the North for you. They also speak german (if thats any help). They can be reached on 009039281561 and are really nice
Hope that helps |

Hi sla019 and welcome to the forum
At the entrance of 'famagusta' just before the roundabout on your right there is a bus terminal and a company called 'Gocmen' and 'Itimat' i believe they both do tours of cyprus especially around the famagusta region all the way to Salamis and Bedis. |

There is a regular bus service by the Paphos Municipality, between the harbor and Coral Bay.

There's no entrance fee for Cypriots. I guess the same should go now for EU citizens.

Try Classic at Pahos Gate, or Centrum in Laiki Gitonia. They are both new and 3-4 star (I think). And they're small ones, so they shouldn't be as expensive as Hilton or Holiday Inn.
Cheers
P. S. I'm talking from memory here, so you should cross-check all info I've given you (including the bus schedule).

| OK according to this there's a bus service to Coral Bay every day, between 8:00 and 19:00 (or 23:00 in the summer), every 20 minutes. |

just one remark re. any sights in the north (Kyrenia/Girne Castle, Salamis, St.Hilarion, Bellapais): entrance fee is charged and as a tourist (read: non Turkish Cypriot) the price is even higher. I paid approx. CYP 3,00 everywhere.
I believe in the south they don't charge any fees, but I'm not sure.
Its to long ago since I visited the sites in the south... |

Regarding fees, a forum member has just said that, since 2004, there is an entrance fee for all archeological sites under the Republic of Cyprus control, except for Sundays.
I'm not sure if it's true or not, though. |

OK, according to the Cyprus Turism Organization web site, there's an entrance fee of 75 cents for archeological sites. You can also buy day cards for 2.50 CYP, and weekly cards for 5.00 CYP.
