Does any one know if it is possible to turn any standard digital camera into a web cam so you can speak to friends/family on msn?

| As far as I know, this is only possible if your camera has special software written for it (look at the manufacturer's site). Because the standard camera drivers are only for downloading pics from the camera to the PC, it's impossible to create "generic" software for this purpose. |

| yeah I know. I have one. its just my sister tried speaking to me on msn with it and then we tried to figure out whether a digital one would work or not....and now I know it wont. |

| well, mine has a function for recording short videos and it also works as a webcam. I'm not sure if that additional feature is it what makes it work as webcam as well. I also used to own a very cheap digicam (was actually a merchandising give-away) that also was able to be a webcam. |
