Hello and welcome to the discuss cyprus forum
This forum was created because of the need for there to be a place where Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot and others can discuss issues related to Cyprus and where those that wish to have such discussions can be protected from an extremists minority that wish to undermine such efforts.
It is early days in the life of this forum. It still has many rough edges and very little content. With your input and support I hope we can build it over time into a useful resource. |

| I think you need to specify that English is the default language Erol. Greek and Turkish and other languages are permitted so long as an accompanying translation is present. |

No need now - you have just said it for me.
Ultimately we will need some written rules/guidelines. For the moment I am holding off on this as I would like us to get a few more members first then discuss and agree (as much as possible) the rules amongst ourselves. |

Erol,
It would be better if some rules were put in place soas new members come on board they know what the score is and at a later date they do not feel betrayed when the rules have to kick in imo. |

Then start up the disucssion and let's get some rules written and agreed (as much as agreement is possible) ;)
The rules need to come from the bottom up and not the top down - and that means 'work'. So let's get going. |

| Another thing i thought would be good is a seperate section at the top of the forum called "Introduce yourself" it was a good idea by jimmy and i have seen it on other forums and every new member has to write something about themselves before they can carry on in the rest of the forum. |

OK I will add the section but I am not sure I like the idea of it being mandatory for memebers to post there.
Er do we think this should be a seperate section (like food and drink) or just a sticky in the general chat area?
The list of sections is getting quite long now. |

| I think a sticky would suffice, otherwise as Erol said we'll have too many sections... |

Just a sticky one, if at all necessary.
I made the experience that forums with to many sections are very uncomfortable for readers. |

Hello,Erol,I am not sure if this is the right thread for this but here goes:
I was delighted to discover Cyprus-forum where all who are interested in finding a peaceful solution could bring their arguments.I have just discovered Talkcyprus and from a quick glance I can see there are some IDs from the other forum, and some new ones.I am curious about what led to this "breakaway" if I can call it that?Do we have to make a choice now as to which forum we use?Is there a silent code regarding this?I would appreciate some guidance on this. Thanks |

you are free to go as and when you please however Erolz (admin of TalkCyprus.org) has said that he does not want people from his forum flooding Cyprus-Forum with posts to join this forum.
please Note: Rules are obeyed in this forum and Erol takes being Admin seriously.
And as for the''break-away'' we felt that that Cyprus-Forum was no longer a suitable place to rationally and peacefully discuss Cyprus and other related issues.
Welcome to the forum Birkibrisli. what was your ID on the last forum if you don't mind me asking? |

Hi Birkibrisli and welcome to the forum.
There is no need at all to make any choice. Being a amember of any other forums is no problem as far as I am concerned. All are welcome here as long as they behave in reasonable ways.
As to the 'history' I do not really want to go into all that. If you are interested there are a couple of threads about this here

and again welcome to the forum |
