I guess the easiest answer to this is that Turkish Cypriots and Turks are as similar as Greek Cypriots and Greeks are.

when i visited the OTs i remember my cypriot uncle pointing out all the settlers from their clothing. they dressed more conservaitvely, whereas the Turkish Cypriots dressed in a more "euro-friendly" manner.

however, it also depends on how long the settlers have been in cyprus. i dont think the Greek Cypriot/Greek analogy is equivalent to that of a Turkish Cypriot/settler analogy because settlers have been living in Cyprus and, I'm guessing, would have many mixed traits.

of course this is only from a few hour visit and a few discussions from the other forum. not sure if its all accurate.

Thanks Magic...

Do the settlers live together with the Turkish Cypriot or do they have their own neighbourhoods/Villages?

And how do the Turkish Cypriot feel about the settlers?

It is very hard and quite dangerous to generalise about this kinds of things but as far as you can generalise my perception is

A bit of both really. There are some areas that are predominatly inhabited by settlers and then there are settlers that live spread out amongst Turkish Cypriot as well

There is some animosity towards settlers as there is in any country towards immigrants.

Again with the usual disclaimer about such generalisations.

Yes they do have a different culture to a degree, tending to be more orthodox and less 'liberal' I guess - at least thats my impression.
