Hi everyone
I am 'experimenting' with a new (hopefully better) live chat system.
The new system is based on IRC and uses a flash IRC client.
It can be accessed from the main menu along the top of all forum pages - using the 'chat' icon.
For the moment I have left the old chat system in place as well.
If people get a chance could they try out the new chat system and let me know how they get on. Boomer tired it for me, but could not connect
Any other feedback would be most welcome
Cheers |

Looks like this one is no good either
Having all sorts of problems with.
I think I will remove it and try something else.
I change my username when setting up this chat system. It's a long story. I 'll change it back when I have removed the new chat system |

What do people think?
I keep finding my way into other conversations??
Sorry to rain on your parader Ez but i think the original was better. If you must spend your holidays pleasing us I suggest a more attractive interface.

Erolz, in Firefox 1.0.7, I can see HTML code under the chat Flash box:
| Quote: |
| TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" id="nsirc" |
I think there must be an error in your EMBED tag somewhere. |

OK
It seems this chat system is not a sucsess. I will remove it later tonight.
Personally I am not happy with the current chat system. It works but is too limited and has some problems for some users.
Really the best chat system is to use an established IRC client (like mirc), but this would not be 'integrated' into the forum. I have a room set up on an IRC server that a person I know owns and runs, but at the moment you will need to use an IRC client to access it.
I may look at alternative 'embedded' IRC clients that can be made to attach to this server and room, that is already set up. Then again I might not. I will see how it goes.
Thanks everyone for the feedback. |

Re, did you check out this software? It's a Flash IRC client that has some popularity. It needs PHP and a special "gateway" server to work though...
