Here`s a film about a woman, DDR Socialist activist, formerly married but her husband escaped to West Berlin, who has a heart attack before the fall of the berlin wall. When she wakes up, the world around her, her own family too have changed, but the doctors inform her son that any shock would bring on another heart attavck that would kill her. So the son begins to find any remnants of the old DDR, refurbishes their modern home back to its poor East German state and even tries to find old East German food products so his bed ridden mother doesnt notice the change around her. Anyway and everytime theres a glimpse of the real world (a coca cola sign outside their apartment), he explains by creating his own News bulletins which he records with his friend (they both work in setting up tvs) to reassure her. The excuses get more and more ridiculous and meanwhile the son is forced to revisit his long astrained father who doesnt even recognise him in order to get his father to visit his sick mother. Its a pretty good film and I m glad I have a copy. You must watch this if you havent!
