This question might sound ridiculous, but...

...Do Turkish people call each other by clapping their lips together, making a "pts pts" kind of noise?

I've heard this a few times while visiting the north, and it really struck me as odd, especially because calling someone like this is considered extremely rude by Greek Cypriots.

Re, Ive been trying to "clap" my lips together ever since I readthis post. I think perhasps you may a witnessed some symtoms of turette syndrome.
