Andrew Mango (2004) The Turks Today

Just finished reading this very accessible book about the evolution of the Turkish state and the condition of the Turkish nation today. Andrew Mango wrote one of the most definitive autobiographies of Ataturk (which is my next book to read ) and has been an observer of Turkish politics and society for more than 50 years. After reading his book, I certainly feel that I have a deeper understanding of Turkey and Turks than I did a week ago when I began reading. I would highly recommend this book to you all (and it's quite cheap in paperback (about £6 from Amazon).
