| I have to say that this is very unfortunate that the priests still have so much influence over your children, in the north we practice a very secular way of education even though for 1 hour a week we have religeous studies class it is not a requirement if you do not want to participate. |

I went to a Catholic private high school for 6 years...Made us pray every day, religious studies every day, teachers were brothers...Well I didn't turn out to be a catholic...actually it made me question religion...
But I have to admit that all religions primary job is to keep on attracting customers non stop...Cyprus is of no exception...They pray on peoples fears and concerns...Anyone seen the preacher channels in the US?...They don't mince words, openly they say "donate to ensure heaven", or "to be heard by god"...And the stupid bastards donate....Look at the catholics and their confessions...As if you tell the priest your sins you are instantly gonna to be forgiven...And look at the jihadis...yeah blow your self up and you will get 72 virgins in heaven, as if Allah is running a virgin making factory out the back...
There is no doubt all religions excert a lot of pressure from all sides to try and hold on to pass glories...With future generations the power of the church will erode...I think Cyprus is/will be of no exception.
But I agree with kifeas, I don't think 76% of the population waited for the church to be told on how to vote...I think they worked it out for themselves...It was a bad plan... |
