Hi, im new here But got really excited when i read this, for the wrong reasons...
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY CYPRIOT IN SOUTH GERMANY!
Now i see theres someone in Tuebingen and Freibeurg!!
Naparsiniz be gardaslar?!
I've been reading these forums for about 2years now, tried to register oncem, and it didnt work, but i tried again when i saw other cypriots in the area!!
Sorry its off topic, but makes me feel happy! Im fed up of Turks(mainlanders) giving me confused looks from how i speak turkish and why im so unreligous!
So the cypriots here in germany....... meet up for a meze and raki!?
By the way, My mum is from Lefke, orignally family is from Baf, and my dad is half English half Cypriot, again his family was from Baf.
I was born and grew up in England, and live in Germany now, workin and livin togethre with my German girlfriend.....shes been to cyprus with me once now
Please don't give me a bollocking for havin an off-topic first post, i know this thread is for a good reason....... I just realised im finally not alone here
Oh, hi everyone hehe....... |

Hehe, nah...not on the bottle....was writing from work then.
Just excited to know theres Cypriots near again.
I was born and lived in England until i was 21, and there was a nice cypriot community where i lived (Birmingham) so had no problems with meeting other like-minded cypriots.
Then i came to Germany, and saw that all the Greeks are mainlanders that don't really care about Cyprus, and the Turks love to try and invite me to mosques/Turkish societies etc... where they are pretty different to Cypriots in customs. The women are mostly covered, and their main topics of conversation with me are either (Why aren't you religious? You live together with your girlfriend, she's German..and your not married!? What do you mean your not a Turk!?!?!) etc...
So i've been hanging around with Germans and the few other English I know here, but really what i need is somone who knows how to play Tavla/Tavli, knows all the different ways to cook Hellim/Halloumi and appreceates that Cypriots are not Turks or Greeks, but Cypriots who speak one of two languages!
Moderators, i'm new here, and i think this is waaaaay off topic for this thread, so if you want to move this do so please!
Apart from that..... Andaxi re gumbara!? |

Ach schade matey, guess I was just a bit too late then! Bugger!
I won't make it to Cyprus this year , looking at moving in to a new flat start next year, so savin the money for that, but would be cool to meet up with people the year after. Will be able to build a better picture of personalities by then
I gotta say thanks to the nice welcome people, this is a friendly forum....
cypezokyli, let me know if your available during the week for a few coffees/beers and a good mull over the island Would be great to talk to someone from Cyprus again! And i hope you can play Tavla/Tavli!? |

cypezokyli, couldn't agree more (even though the weather ist wirklich schlecht, at the moment). Came here as a tourist many times, and then decided to study here. Hopefully, I'll get a job soon
Where are you now? |

I would love to be in cyprus now. There's no water left, too hot, but at least you know what to expect
I'm sitting by the window, working and enjoying the very very sunny day in Berlin
By the time I get to the kitchen....it's snowing!!!
Climate change at its best:) |

hey moonskin, what do you mean? The sad smiley after the 'being in Cyprus' statement of cypez?? You are not telling me you are missing Germany!
Its winter again there. About 2 degrees in Berlin.
dolia, where are you in Berlin? I grew up there. |
