i am sorry, that i post here an event that already took place.
i went there so sponaneously that i didnt have time to post it earlier
it took place yesterday, at intercollege in nicosia. i believe it was organised from the "coalition : stop the war"
present were children , wives and grandchildren of people from both sides , who had their own people massacred by nationalists from the other side. present were also the two journalists who make an incredible work in tracing missing persons - andreas parashos and sevgul uludag.
it was an amazing experience.
some people gave forgiveness, and promised to teach their children not to kill for the sake of religion or patriotism.
some others demanded punishment.
..............
ofcource, not a single political party was there. not a single candidate.
and above all, not a single tv channel. from either side. (this is the reason why one can get information about such meetings through emails)
and present were children of missing people!
but ofcource an event concerning the missing persons, cannot be bicommunal, can it ? if it is chrysostomos speaking about the "pain of the relatives" all channels will be there. when they themselves speak about that pain- it is not interesting
(not even the so-called left channel didnot come...."the left"...)

Thanks, cyp.
It is always interesting, and hopeful, to see that there are ordinary people who are doing what our political leaders seem unable to do; promote dialog. |
