Dear DP:
When HPG was set up its members decided not to become involved with the problems involved with people buying Greek Cypriot property.
There are several groups where you can discuss this issue.
PERSONALLY, I believe there is a great deal of RISK in buying Greek Cypriot
HOMES, but less risk in buying land.
The "exchange" system set up by the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus government is supposed to mean that if you buy escher (exchange) land then the Turkish Cypriot who has been given this has given up their land in the south.
In theory this land could be used to compensate the Greek Cypriot who
originally owned the land. You will not find much land which a Greek Cypriot has
not got a claim on, just assume the land is Greek Cypriot and pay accordingly.
In practice there are greater risks when you deal with unscrupulous estate
agents/builders/lawyers, none of whom are Greek Cypriots!
Regards
