For the moment in order to uplaod a picture to the photo album you must create a thumbnail image (no more than 125 pixels accross) and upload it at the same time as uploading the picture
The photo albums are divided into two main types of Album. Public Albums and Personal Albums. Each of these can then have sub categories (and sub sub categories).
We need to decide what public album categories and sub categories and sub sub categories we want but I guess that will happen over time. Pictures posted to public albums must be 'approved' before they will appear there after being uploaded. At the moment that means me or Alexandros, but we can set any user or users to be an 'album administrator' in the future. At the moment the settings for public albums allow guest (non logged in forum users) to view the album pictures. Should we wish to we can change the settings so that only logged in members can view them.
With Personal Albums you can manage the categories in the gallery using the option found at the bottom right of your personal gallery page (after you have uploaded a picture to it, which creates the personal gallery). Form here you can create categories and sub categories for your forum, set and change the description for these categories, change the order of the categories in your personal album. By editing a category from this page you can also control the permission levels of various aspects of your personal gallery. These are as follows
View level - this controls who can see you personal gallery (or indivdual categoreis or sub categories). All means anyone including guests can view this gallery or sub category. Reg means only logged on forum members can and private means only you can view it.
Upload level - this controls who can put pictures into your personal gallery with the settings as above.
rate level - This controls who can assign a rating (a score from 1 - 10) for the pictures in this galery
Comment level - this control who can assign comments to a picture in this gallery. |

You need to create the thumbnail in some sort of graphics package like photoshop or equivalent. Basically you load your image, reduce the image size to be say 100 pixels accross and save this small version as a new filename (like image-thumb.jpg) and then upload the orginal image and the thumbnail image.
There are also file size limits for the main image both in terms of bytes and pixels, which are shown on the upload image page.
I'll see if I can find a simple windows prog that will create thumbnails for you. |

OK there is a free and small thumnail creator you can download here
http://www.fookes.com/ezthumbs/
I just downloaded it and it seems to work fine
When you have it installed change the settings tab so that the max height and width of images is 100 (not 200). It creates a thumnail file with the smae filename as original image but puts "tn_ " in fornt of the filename. |

I always think it is a better idea to only allow members to have access to the forum hence i think we should always keep that implemented in all sections of the forum.
In short:
You want to view, join and see. |

Well at the moment this is not how the forum is set up. Guests can view both the forums and the picture albums. To post you must sign up but not to view. To be honest there are a few reasons why I prefer this approach but the main one is that it allows the search enggines to capture any page from the forum and thus builds greater density of presence for the site in them. |

It is now no longer necessary to create and upload a thumbnail image with each picture uploaded. Now all you have to upload is the picture itself and the thumbnail will be created automatically.
Again a big thanks to positive internet (the hosters of this site) for installing the necessary components to make this feature work. |
