Feeling sad because I put my little dog into kennels this morning for the first time - a 5-day trial before she goes in there for 3 weeks at Christmas. The kennel comes highly recommended from some good friends of mine, and we've been there for a good look around before, so I'm not worried about how she's being kept... just missing her scampering around my feet as I type demanding attention :(

She's also getting a full-works grooming on Friday so should look all neat and fluffy when we get her back. :D

Mrs. Moose will probably call every day to check how she is

Ah, moose........im sure your little dog will be fine :) When we go to Cyprus next year, we will have to put our staffordshire bull terrier dog into kennels for the first time. :( We normally leave him with my Inlaws when we go on holiday, but they are coming with us to Cyprus this time.) My Inlaws have my dogs daughter, so we are thinking of Boarding them togethor, so they will have some company. :)

I remember the first time I put my dog in, I left the kennels crying my heart out!!

I must say the reunion was fantastic though and I could see that she had a great time there and she loved the people that looked after her.

From then on it was n't so bad especially when I saw the way she was pleased to see everyone at the kennels, made me feel confident about the way they were looking after her.

Be cool Moosey, she'll be fine.

I put my alstation into kennels and like marina said she was fine and the reunion was great and she never had any issues going again, so i am sure your 'white fluffy rug' will be fine.

On a sadder note my alstation was a rare white one and at the age of 2.5 her hips went and the operation was several thousands pounds and i could not afford it back then and i had to give her up to a very wealthy family who knew her since she was a puppy and got her the required treatment but i have not seen her since as i cannot bare to part from her again.

Poor Brother, I know the feeling, they are family members and its so hard when they have to be given away for any reason.
Makes you think twice about getting another pet does nt it!! Time heals though and if we ever manage to build on a piece of land my hubby has, its nice and big and I'm going to get two dogs and loads of cats. Cant wait.

I have refused to have a pet since then and after so many years i still yearn for my 'wolfy' and it will be many more years before i feel i can have another dog that i will love as i loved my 'wolfy'.

That's really sad Bro'... thankfully I've taken out a really good pet insurance, so (God forbid) if anything nasty ever happens to my 'little white rug', all fees will be taken care of. Insurance is definitely worth it, as Marina says, losing a dog is just like losing a member of the family. It's been more than 20 years since I lost my childhood dog but it still makes me sad to think the day we lost him even now.

Thanks for the kind words everyone... :D

My worst mistake was not getting any pet insurance and i still kick myself for that, as my wolfy would still be with me and she would have been 11 years old now and i would have probably let her have a litter of pups too and kept one.....AAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
