| I have just heard there is talk of building a Disney Land in Cyprus, does anyone know about this or have you heard anything? :shock: |

I heard of plans for a Las Vegas type gambling esablishment in the North,but not anything about a Disneyland....Perhaps others can enlighten us both... |

There was an article in 'Politis' newspaper (on Jan, 11th, I think) on this matter. That's probably where the recent 'rumours' are coming from. The issue is known for quite a while from what I gathered.
Apparently it has nothing whatsoever to do with Disney, the name came only into the equation cause the project in question is described as a 'Disneyland-type' entertainment park for the whole family. Also the themes will have nothing to do with Disney, to the contrary, it will be Cyprus history like the battle of Salamis or the story of Aphrodite... Its supposed to be a Russian consortium that want to build this 800 million Euro project and it seems to be in the making as there seem to be plans to have it ready by 2012 when Cyprus gets the rotating EU presidency.
I wouldn't know what the one has to do with the other but anyway....
So, that's the info I found; the article in Politis was quite long. |
