one more time I have no words when it comes to this topic!
Quote: Cypriot student Panayiotis Kyriakou, directed a sadistic film of himself throwing a pan of boiling oil over a dog in Chios. The dog died of its injuries. He recorded his horrific act, while laughing hysterically, and put his video on YouTube. Until now no charges have been made against him and most likely none will be made. It is un believable and unheard of that animals have to suffer in silence because the law still does not support animal welfare and you get away with anything you do. Time for drastic changes, time to stop the horrific acts of cruelty....

Quote: Quote: “The trapping is out of control this autumn – we are witnessing a slaughter on a massive scale. The non-selective nature of nets and limesticks means that not just blackcaps and other warblers, but also nightjars, owls, shrikes, flycatchers and dozens of other species are being taken. Please help us put pressure on the authorities to re-double enforcement efforts and target the law-breaking restaurants serving ambelopoulia”, said Martin Hellicar, Campaigns Manager of BirdLife Cyprus.

Quote: Quote: The ongoing toll of migrant birds in Cyprus has topped a new benchmark this autumn, as over one million have been illegally trapped and killed already this autumn.

Quote: Such levels of trapping constitute an ecological disaster. Non-selective trapping is taking place on a large scale to feed the demand for banned ambelopoulia delicacies. We want to communicate the scale of this slaughter to the generally indifferent public in order to make them more aware of the issue and its ecological impact”, Martin Hellicar added. |
