His wife wears a headscarf. will she wear them in the Presidential Palace?
Already the military has put him on notice, it tolerates no centers of evil.
A chilling begining for a secular world, and this man with his Islamic past. |

| The Turkish Military are the Guardians of Turkey and will NEVER allow the Islamists to change the constitution in their favour and to propell Turkey to the dark ages |

In other words:
1. A country has an organisation which nobody elected but everyone thinks is great.
2. Everyone also agrees that elections are great.
However, the unelected organisation 1 reserves the right to remove the elected organisation 2 if deemed improper.
In other words, election results are respected unless they give the "wrong" result.
!
This seems to turn the past on its head, where revolutions took place to remove such situations; for example, the Glorious Revolution of 1689 which, in effect, reduced the British monarch to a figurehead (with only theoretical power) and prevented their arbitrarily interfering in the affairs of Parliament.
(That Parliamentary elections were grossly unfair in many ways until 1832, at least, is beside the point; at least they took place and the results stuck). |

Quite frankly you presume too much, cent percent.
Sure I hope she wears the headscarf, and the simple reasoning is because I hope for more religious freedom, allowing Orthodox priests to return to their studies, and religious freedom, and education for others, as well, like Armenians and Kurds, in this secular modern State called Turkey. |

I actually agree with that staement above and as much as the millitary is respected they are NOT politicians and have no right to intervene in anything, proper democracy demands that the army does as its told by the democratically elected goverment of the people of Turkey hence if the millitary ever does do another coup that is what will take Turkey back 50 years imo. |

Turkey ready to reform and convince EU: foreign minister
http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5jO2-T1SZP_0yp3g4ILikqLVwHBSQ
Quote: "We have a very clear intention to change things in Turkey, to make Turkish democracy a first-class democracy, make Turkey a truly democratic country where the rule of law works, where people exercise their freedoms, and where fundamental rights are respected," Babacan said during his first foray onto the European scene since becoming foreign minister. |

cent percent you have a stick caught up your (brain).
Feeling sorry for yourself?
Seems to me,
because the squaking never stops, you need to be
mistreated to feel somehow cared for.
That or you are gazing at your own navel far too closely.
Or it's just a bad joke which I don't get. |

Why does everything have to be an example of "Greek", or Greek Cypriot selfishness? Why do you constantly have to feel that this is paramount to solving a problem which is affecting us all? Somehow this problem is limited to "Greeks" and "Turks" as though we are not people first.

You want Cyprus? Gripe all you want. Be a griper, if you want. But please, for the rest of us on the internet, try to offer something that is useful, as well.
cent percent, I don't take too well to this behaviour with me. I am your freind. We are Cypriots. But more importantly, we are people who care. |
