I hope this doesnt violate any rules of the forum. This is from a forward I received recently about a department stores cookies. The recipe follows the short story.

Sure she could have checked her card when signing it bet let's face it these are americans...

THIS IS A TRUE STORY!
>
> My daughter and I had just finished a salad at a Neiman-Marcus Cafe in
> Dallas, and we decided to have a small dessert. Because both of us are
> such cookie lovers, we decided to try the "Neiman-Marcus cookie." It

> excellent that I asked if they would give me the recipe, and the waitress
> said with a small frown, "I'm afraid not, but you can buy the recipe."
>
> Well, I asked how much, and she responded, "Only two fifty --- it's a
> great deal!" I agreed to that, and told her to just add it to my tab.
>
> Thirty days later, I received my VISA statement, and the Neiman-Marcus

> bottom of the statement, it said, "Cookie Recipe $250.00". That was
> outrageous!

>
> I just said, Okay, you folks got my $250, and now I'm going to have
> $250 worth of fun." I told her that I was going to see to it that every

> Neiman-Marcus...for free.
>
> She replied, "I wish you wouldn't do that."
>
> I said, "Well, perhaps you should have thought of that before you ripped
> me off!" and slammed down the phone.
>
> So here it is! Please, please, please, pass it on to everyone you can

That woman is a complete dumbass. For those who do not know Neiman Marcus it is one of the most expensive department stores in the US. Nothing and I stress NOTHING is for sale in that store for 2.50 US$.

I don't think she's worried - she doesn't exist! The story is a version of an urban legend which has been around since the 1940s at least.

Snopes tells the story ...
