Happy New Year Boys and Girls!
Now the real question! How many Greek Cypriot would live in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus that is under EU durestriction?
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus would have the same rules and conditions as any other EU country and under the careful eyes of the EU and not BIG Fat Momma Turkeys control and influence !!!!!!!!!
Cheers

Sorry DP for having to qualify my answer but, if there was a Republic of Cyprus where there existed, as well, two National Assemblies, one of them being the T"r"NC then i would have no problem living as a minority under their jurisdiction ( having a vote exactly like any other person). But if you are talking about a place where i cannot vote because i am profiled as a "Greek" or "not Turkish" (a la Annan Plan, which as you remember the EU was willing to accept) i would prefer to continue this fight for a resolution to our Problem.

And I forgot to say if there is a possibility of discussing two states, then will also like to see the Southern part of Cyprus united with Greece.

We are talking of the possibility that Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus would become an independent state, or Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus a federal state of a united Cyprus?
If I understood you right and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus would become an independent state, then why should I be joking? The free areas of today's Cyprus will unite with Greece and Cyprus would become a province of Greece. So far the only obsticle to that were the Turkish Cypriots, if they go ahead and they create their own state the what is the problem with Enosis, provided that the majority of people living in Cyprus agree to it.

we are already UNITED with Greece through the EU and will be UNITED with Turkey one day (I hope I am around to see it) once Turkey becomes part of the EU!
So you already have your ENOSIS and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus will get there one day! cheers!
PS ENOSIS? Put it to a vote mate?
That is dead and buried with Grivas! Thank GOD for that!
BUT you NEVER know maybe Ireland and Scotland might want to join Britain again one day!
Everything is possible! They DID land on the moon! Didn't they?

It does not serve Mankind to have the island divided. Greece and Turkey have a cultivated relationship; offering to them this opportunity to fight proxy wars, as in the past, here in Cyprus, would be a mistake.

Quite simply the issues must be presented in a way where the electorate can identify themselves as this island's dwellers, first.

To do this, being, as a People, Bicommunal, they will have to have, as well, two National Assemblies, so that these citizens, as persons, for themselves having a form of self representation, as an ethnic majority a means to sustain their distinction, in this, their country's internal affairs, not as Cypriots but as, Greek Cypriot or Turkish Cypriot, demonstrating to themselves their respect and their recognition of the particular needs of minorities amongst them.

Bizonal, yes... by all means provide a Jurisdiction for the two National Assemblies, but it is not partition a fait accompli, in geographic terms the two parts we have today.

I suggest the we can enjoy far greater mobility association and expression with the return of Greek Cypriots as communities in the north, as enclaves, like Turkish Cypriots, founding as communities to the south. This demonstrates our commitment to principal, as people, united, such as the Right of Return, respect for Basic Human Rights, our commitment to the betterment of the Human Condition.

Any disruption of the impasse will provide for hardship. The benefit of my proposal is that in embracing a future where the population of the island has changed (100 years from now), both societies will thrive because of the vitality the enclaves will add to social exchange within each culture.

imagine...

the island divided exactly as it is today.
imagine enclaves which spot the island.
imagine one Capital, and three governments within it;

is that not possible for the Isrealis and the Paletinians, and on a broader scale is it not possible for the Kosavars Serbians and Bosnians, the Kurds the Turks and the Armenians...

... we are such a tiny population right now that it is entirely possible here.

RW very well said:
Becuase this tragedy (Division of Cyprus) I will always support the divission of Greece, Turkey and others!
1: I want the Macedonians to take a big slice of Greece and the Turks to take Thrace!
2: I want the Kurds to take a big slice of Turkey and also the Greeks to take back Constantinople:
3: I want the Scots and the Welsh to get full Independence from Britain and Argentina to get back the Fawklin and Spain to get Gibraltar:
4: Mexico to get back California and Texas! And full Independence for Alaska and Hawaii:
5: The Basques in Spain:
Indonesia, China, Russia, ect ect ect
If they are going to divided up a small island like Cyprus and cause so much misery WHY NOT go all the way!
Dived and RULE isn't that what they want? Of is it Divide what we WANT and rule!
What is good for the goose is Good for the gander!
cheers
