Found an interesting article on the BBC website.

Two people saying wether they thing Islam is compatible or not with the West.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4204820.stm

Personally, i think it is a culture thing, the further east you go, the harder it is to be compatible with both. Turks(in the UK) seem to be OK being compatible, or am i wrong? But pakistanis(like the lady in the article) find it very hard. Im probably generalising, so it wont apply to everyone!

An interestng debate if nothing else

The case of Indonesia which is the most populous Islamic country in the world seems to disprove your 'Eastern' thesis Dhavre.

A lot of people in these islam countries know no better and if they were given the choice of western living and what they have now, i am sure Islam would be most compatible.
