I was reading Serhat Incirli's (Afrika columnist) article in response to Talat's recent statement about how Turkish Cypriots should be economically stronger in order to negotiate with Greek Cypriot leadership better...and it was pretty funny (and true at the same time) to me so wanted to share. Here's a rough translation of a part of his article.
Quote:
"If we can get our economy stronger, if we can get to the point where we can compete with the world, then we'll be stronger at the peace negotiation table" says he (Talat).
Strengthen economy?
How?
By selling stolen land?
By building illegal buildings?
Israel managed to build nuclear power plants to Palestinian land years ago but they (Israelis) still could not succeed to call the land their own.
And you're going to succeed?
Talat brings the issue to "Once we get money, once we're rich, we can negotiate better".
And I have a suggestion!
Let's plant opium on all the cultivable land!
Let's target Columbia and Afganistan!
If possible, instead of growing seedless lemons, let's produce weed, cocaine and heroin!
Nobody can say anything!
Economy soars!
Selling stolen land to someone else vs. exporting heroin, same difference!
Ethics?
Stealing is stealing!
Would there be a difference between sitting at the negotiation table as rich heroin exporters or as thieves who got rich by selling stolen land?
