|
|
to have a sticky section with agreed Cyprus history. Forum members can make suggestions to improve the history section and mods can make changes when they believe it is necessary.
The version of history should have no meaning attached but simply state the mere facts. For holistic view the history section can refer readers to debates in other discussion threads within the forum
eg.
on the recent debate about EOKA:
We call it EOKA struggle (neither terrorist not liberation) state the facts such who were the leader, what was their aim, what action did they take etc. just mere fact. Then readers can be refered to debates such as "what did EOKA really achieved" and "EOKA freedom fighters or terrorists". Also when stating facts we can refer to reliable sources etc.
That could be a point of reference for forum users and others.
The history can be divided in: (just a sample)
main narative
pre-history
greek period
medieval times
ottoman period
brittish period
eoka struggle
independence
bicommunal conflict
intracommunal conflict
greek coup and turkish intervention
status quo |

City - No that is a bit different to what I am suggesting. I am not talking about wikipedia, I am talking within the forum's webpages.
Just like there are sections such as
proposed solution to the cyprus problem
cyprus problem references
etc
we could have a whole section within the forum 'Agreed version on Cyprus history' in that section no new topics can be added but people can discuss it and dispute.
I am not saying it should happen, I am just suggesting.
RW you mean a blog? |

Stavri, did you read the thread? Only in the first post Erolz is mentioning wikipedia as an example. The aim was imo exactly what you are suggesting. Having an own section/thread within the forum. However if you read the whole 17 pages of that thread you will see how difficult the task is.... :( But there are at least some good ideas in there how to start it or how to set it up. Maybe we could try to start again or continue from there. |
