Bundesliga outfit FC Energie Cottbus have secured the services of Efstathios Aloneftis.
The Cyprian international has signed a three-year contract until 2010.
The 24-year-old left-footed player joins Energie from Greek cup winners AE Larisas. He will get shirt number 26 at Cottbus.
"We will further improve"
"We hope to have the ideal new player for our left flank. We are positive about his dynamics, vision and skill", Steffen Heidrich said.
"By signing Ovidiu Burca, Dimitar Rangelov and Stathis Aloneftis we have exactly replaced the positions Kevin McKenna, Vlad Munteanu and Sergiu Radu have played, but we will further improve the squad", Energie's sporting director added.

Tell me if that is luck or destiny:
Stathis Aloneftis started his career from the academy of Omonoia. The two stars of the team at the time were Nikos G. and Stathis. Nikos was the first scorer of the under 17s National team and the first scorer of tsiko (under 17s) for Omonoia. Anyway where I want to lead is that they have been competing since young for a place in the teams and later for a place in the seniors squad. In a crucial game Raoufman who was the striker for Omonoia was injured and had to be replaced by a player from the academy. The manager was to choose between Nikos and Stathis and at the end he has chosen Stathis. Stathis played some of the best games he ever played in his debute in the first team and since he secured a position in the seniors team and became a star of Cypriot football. Then he went to AEL Larisas and now in Germany.
Nikos was never given such an opportunity, his was disappointed and he lost passion. Now he playes in second division in Cyprus! The story reminds me of Eminem's song '8 mile' the lyrics "one shot, one opportunity..."
