This 'event' is all over the news sites

I have to 'confess' to having had one of these for a few months now (picked it up in the US earlier in the year)
Overall I love it. It's the first handheld games machine I have owned since the Atari lynx.
I wrote a mini review of it here if anyone is interested.

| I own a Nintendo DS although I've played the PSP quite a bit. The screen seems to be brighter than the DS's (although both are perfectly fine), and obviously the graphics are superior. There are a couple of games which really attract me, namely Wipeout and Lumines, but nothing so far to make me want to purchase one. In fact, the amount of time it's taken Sony to bring the PSP here has really put me off, and there are two things that really attract me to the DS, mainly the innovation it offers and the decent battery life. |

Opps - didnt realise the site where my 'mini review' was did not let anyone view the thread. Sorry. Below is a copy of my mini review orginaly posted there on Apr 15 2005, 04:44 AM
Quote: I was in the US for a bit and took the opportuinty of grabbing a playsation portable whilst there.
Have to say over all it is a very nice piece of kit and at $250 (about £135) not a bad price.
Plus points
Well design and good looking - feels pretty chunky
Excellent screen
built in wifi
useable for more than just gaming (picture / movies / mp3s though limited by memort stick capcity)
minus points
The games are dvd style disk based and thus the loading times are compatible with this - ie sloooow.
It is at the moment a very 'sealed' device but hopefuly it will be 'hacked' to open it up a bit.
Personally I think sony should open the device up. There are so many potential uses for it, if you could write apps for it that is. Like as a wifi based 'remote control' for the PC and many many others.
Roll on someone writting a linux version from it - then we can really start to put it to use.
